Egon Bondy, born Zbyněk Fišer (20 January 1930 in Prague – 9 April 2007 in Bratislava), was a Czech philosopher, writer, and poet, one of the leading personalities of the Prague underground. In the late 1940s, Bondy was active in a surrealistic group. From 1957 to 1961, he studied philosophy and psychology at Charles University in Prague. From the 1960s he was considered to be one of the main figures of the Prague underground, particularly once his texts were set to music by The Plastic People of the Universe in the 1970s. His non-conformism brought him into conflict with the totalitarian communist regime in Czechoslovakia. His works were circulated only as samizdat. Bondy was always interested in the study of Karl Marx and in the criticism of both contemporary capitalism and state socialism. John Adrian Bondy (born 1944 in London) is a retired English mathematician, known for his work in combinatorics and graph theory. Career Bondy received his Ph.D. in graph theory from the University of Oxford in 1969. His advisor was Dominic Welsh. Between 1969 and 1994, Bondy was ''Professor of Graph Theory'' at the University of Waterloo in Canada, and then, until his retirement, at Université Lyon 1 in France. Joseph Bondy (September 13, 1863 – December 21, 1945) was a Jewish-American lawyer, politician, and military officer from New York. Life Bondy was born on September 13, 1863, in Syracuse, New York, the son of Austrian immigrants Gabriel Bondy and Mary Cohen. His father served in the Austrian Army for around eight years and worked with A. C. Yates & Co. in Syracuse for thirty years. He graduated from Syracuse High School in 1881. In 1884, Bondy graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. and Columbia Law School with an LL.B. He was admitted to the bar in 1885, and had a private law practice until 1917. Simon Bondi (; 1774 – 20 December 1816) was a German ''maskil'' and lexicographer of the Talmud. He wrote, together with his brother , the ''Or Ester'' ('Light of Esther'), a Hebrew dictionary of the Latin words occurring in the Talmud, ''targumim'' and ''midrashim'' (Dessau, 1812).
