Bonaventure Lüthen
Bonaventure Lüthen, S.D.S. (5 May 1846 - 10 December 1911), was a founding member of the Society of the Divine Savior, commonly called the Salvatorians, and a close collaborator of Venerable Francis Mary of the Cross Jordan. The cause for his beatification was introduced in 1943. Life Early life and ministry Bernard Lüthen was born in Paderborn, Germany, to Henry and Theresia Luthen. As a young man, Bernard decided to follow his older brother, Karl, into the local diocesan seminary. After completing secondary studies in a local, Jesuit-run school, he entered the archdiocesan seminary in Paderborn. He was ordained a priest on 15 May 1872, in the Paderborn Cathedral. Because of chronic ill health and the limitations placed on the Catholic Church by the Kulturkampf, a parish assignment was not possible.
