Bomu Oil Field
The Bomu oil field is an oil field located in Gokana Local Government Area of the Eastern Niger Delta region of Nigeria. The discovery well was spudded in February 1958 and discovered 265 ft of gas sands and 165 feet of oil bearing sands of the Agbada formation. Production began in 1959 and the first stage of a 12-inch pipeline connecting Bomu to the town of Bonny through Anam was completed in the same year. Gokana, Rivers
Gokana is a Local Government Area in Rivers State, Nigeria. Its headquarter is in the town(community) of Kpor but the traditional headquater is Giokoo.It happens to be a part of the Ogoni tribe It has an area of 126 km and a population of 228,828 at the 2006 census. The local language is the Gokana language. Gokana is also divided into two major divisions which are ''Dee-nwee Gokana'' also known as ''pa numuu'' and ''Dee-si Gokana'' also known as ''pa bookpo.'' Niger Delta
The Niger Delta is the delta of the Niger River sitting directly on the Gulf of Guinea on the Atlantic Ocean in Nigeria. The Niger Delta Basin, also referred to as the Niger Delta province, is an extensional rift basin located in the Niger Delta and the Gulf of Guinea on the passive continental margin near the western coast of Nigeria with suspected or proven access to Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and São Tomé and Príncipe. This basin is very complex, and it carries high economic value as it contains a very productive petroleum system. The Niger delta basin is one of the largest subaerial basins in Africa. It has a subaerial area of about 75,000 km2, a total area of 300,000 km2, and a sediment fill of 500,000 km3. The sediment fill has a depth between 9–12 km. Bonny, Rivers
Bonny (originally Ibani) is a traditional, coastal town and a Local Government Area in Rivers State in southern Nigeria, on the Bight of Bonny. It is also the capital of the Kingdom of Bonny. Traditionally (especially between the 15th and 19th centuries) it was a major trading post of the eastern Delta, and its economy witnessed the sale of slaves. Bonny Island is a major export point for oil today. The region produces a type of crude oil known as Bonny Light oil. Much of the oil extracted onshore in Rivers State is piped to Bonny for export. It has the biggest LNG Gas Plant in Nigeria with six (6) trains.
