Bolton Landing, New York
Bolton Landing is a hamlet and census-designated places in the town of Bolton in Warren County, New York. It is located on Lake George in the Adirondack Mountains. It is a common tourist destination and the closest town to the State Park lands and islands of the Lake George Narrows. The hamlet's most notable structure is The Sagamore Hotel, a renovated Victorian-era hotel. There are four public beaches, some of which are adjacent to public docks. History The community was founded in 1799. The Marcella Sembrich Opera Museum and Sagamore Hotel Complex are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Geography Bolton Landing is ten miles north of Lake George village on the west side of Lake George in the town of Bolton. The closest city is Glens Falls, south of Lake George village. New York Route 9N
New York State Route 9N (NY 9N) is a north–south state highway in northeastern New York in the United States. It extends from an intersection with U.S. Route 9 (US 9), NY 29, and NY 50 in the city of Saratoga Springs to a junction with US 9 and NY 22 in the Clinton County hamlet of Keeseville. At in total length, NY 9N is the longest letter-suffixed route in the state. It is concurrent with its parent route for in the village of Lake George and for three blocks in the hamlet of Elizabethtown. Much of NY 9N runs alongside either a river or a lake. Roland David Smith (March 9, 1906 – May 23, 1965) was an American Abstract expressionism, abstract expressionist sculptor and painter, best known for creating large steel abstract geometry, geometric sculptures. Early life Roland David Smith was born on March 9, 1906, in Decatur, Indiana, Decatur, Indiana and moved to Paulding, Ohio in 1921, where he attended high school. From 1924 to 1925, he attended Ohio University in Athens (one year) and the University of Notre Dame, which he left after two weeks because there were no art courses. In between, Smith took a summer job working on the assembly line of the Studebaker automobile factory in South Bend, Indiana. Matt Finley
Matt Finley (born August 17, 1951, in New York City) is an American flugelhorn player and composer of Brazilian jazz. Finley grew up performing in resorts in Bolton Landing and Lake George (New York), graduated from Phillips Academy and Union College where he studied composition with Edgar Curtis, Director of the Albany Symphony Orchestra. After obtaining a master's degree from the College of Saint Rose, he performed for seven years with Grammy Award-winning baritone saxophonist Nick Brignola. A multi-instrumentalist, Matt performs on flugelhorn, trumpet, soprano sax and flute. He is a retired professor of computer information systems and was academic dean at Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he earned the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service granted by the State University of New York. The Metropolitan Opera (commonly known as the Met) is an American opera company based in New York City, resident at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center, currently situated on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Gaetano Donizetti
Domenico Gaetano Maria Donizetti (29 November 1797 – 8 April 1848) was an Italian composer, best known for his almost 70 operas. Along with Gioachino Rossini and Vincenzo Bellini, he was a leading composer of the '' bel canto'' opera style during the first half of the nineteenth century and a probable influence on other composers such as Giuseppe Verdi. Donizetti was born in Bergamo in Lombardy. At an early age he was taken up by Simon Mayr who enrolled him with a full scholarship in a school which he had set up. There he received detailed musical training.
