Bollywood Films Of The 1930s
This is a list of films produced by the Indian Hindi-language film industry, popularly known ''Bollywood,'' based in Mumbai ordered by year and decade of release. Although "Bollywood" films are generally listed under the Hindi language, most are in Hindustani and many in Urdu as well as Hindi, with partial Bhojpuri, Punjabi and occasionally other languages. Bollywood films can achieve national distribution across at least 22 of India's 29 states. Speakers of Hindi, Bhojpuri, Urdu, and Punjabi understand the mixed language usage of Bollywood thus extending the viewership to people all over the Indian subcontinent (throughout India and its neighboring countries). The Cinema of India consists of motion pictures produced in India, which had a large effect on world cinema since the late 20th century. Major centers of film production across the country include Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Kochi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack and Guwahati. For a number of years the Indian film industry has ranked first in the world in terms of annual film output. In terms of box office it ranked third in 2019, with total gross of around (US$2.7 billion). Indian cinema is composed of multilingual and multi-ethnic film art. Om Shanti Om
''Om Shanti Om'' (transl. ''Peace Be With You'') is a 2007 Indian Hindi-language fantasy romance film written and directed by Farah Khan, co-written by Mayur Puri and Mushtaq Shiekh, and produced by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment. Spanning three decades, the film stars Shah Rukh Khan as Om Makhija, a poor junior film artist in 1977, who falls in love with a secretly-married film actress Shanti Kashyap, portrayed by debutante Deepika Padukone. Her husband and a film producer Mukesh Mehra, played by Arjun Rampal, betrays her and murders her in a fire. Om witnesses this and is severely injured while trying to rescue her, resulting in his death as well. ''Patiala House'' is a 2011 Indian Hindi-language sports drama film directed by Nikkhil Advani and the film stars Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma in lead roles. It was produced by Bhushan Kumar, Mukesh Talreja, Krishan Kumar and Twinkle Khanna under the banner of People Tree Films, Credence Motion Pictures and Hari Om Entertainment.
