Bokyem ( ko, 보겸), real name Kim Bo-kyem( ko, 김보겸, Hanja: 金𤣰謙, born January 31, 1988) is a South Korean YouTuber and BJ of afreecaTV. As of June 2020, the number of subscribers to the YouTube channel operated by Bokyem was 4.03 million, and it was the number one in the list of subscribers when limited to the Korean game YouTuber channel. Early life Bokyem was born on January 31, 1988, in Seocheon-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. Bokyem started the afreecaTV BJ in 2012 while attending Kunsan National University. In 2014, Bokyem started working on YouTube, and he has uploaded game videos. In 2016, Bokyem also uploaded Mukbang and daily videos, increasing the number of YouTube subscribers. Most of the viewers were in their teens. Since 2017, Bokyem has been broadcasting jointly with other BJs in Korea. A mukbang or meokbang ( ko, 먹방, ), also known as an eating show, is an online audiovisual broadcast in which a host consumes various quantities of food while interacting with the audience. It became popular in South Korea in 2010, and has since become a major contributor to Hallyu, along with K-Beauty, K-pop, and Korean drama, earning its status as a global trend. Varieties of foods ranging from pizza to noodles are consumed in front of a camera. The purpose of mukbang is also sometimes educational, introducing viewers to regional specialities or gourmet spots. A mukbang is usually prerecorded or streamed live through a webcast on streaming platforms such as AfreecaTV, YouTube, TikTok, and Twitch. It split from Megalia, another feminist online community based in South Korea. Overview WOMAD split from Megalia on January 22, 2016. "WOMAD" is a combination of the words "woman" and "nomad". It formed due to Megalia issuing a ban on the use of certain explicit slurs against gay men and transgender people. This change in policy led to the migration of anti-LGBT members. Crayon Pop
Crayon Pop (Hangul: 크레용팝) is a South Korean girl group formed under Chrome Entertainment in 2012. The group consisted of four members: Geummi, Ellin, Choa, and Way. Their fifth member, Soyul, left the group in 2017. Crayon Pop officially debuted in July 2012 with their performance of "Saturday Night" on Mnet's ''M! Countdown''. Their first EP was not a commercial success, and when their song "Dancing Queen" was released in October, the group had few opportunities to promote on music shows. Instead they held guerrilla performances on the streets of Seoul, which helped increase their fanbase.
