Bohuslav Balbín
Bohuslav Balbín (3 December 1621 Hradec Králové (German: Königgrätz) – 29 November 1688 Prague) was a Czech writer, historian, geographer and Jesuit, called the "Czech Pliny". He became well known also as an advocate of the Czech language in the time of incoming germanization of the Czech lands. Life Balbín was born in Hradec Králové into a middle class Roman Catholic family. He was educated mostly in the Jesuit schools, he soon joined the Society of Jesus. After finishing studies in philosophy at University of Olomouc, he taught in Jesuit colleges in Prague, Třeboň, Brno, Jičín, Jindřichův Hradec and Český Krumlov. After writing of several textbooks and didactic theatre plays, he also became acquainted with historical sources of archives and libraries. His entire life was devoted to collecting and editing materials about Czech history, and his researches have often been utilized by the Bollandists. Balbín died, aged 66, in Prague. Arnošt Of Pardubice
Arnošt of Pardubice ( cs, Arnošt z Pardubic, german: Ernst von Pardubitz) (25 March 1297 probably in Vestec (Náchod District), Hostinka – 30 June 1364 in Roudnice nad Labem) was the first List of bishops and archbishops of Prague, Archbishop of Prague (and the last bishop). He was also an advisor and diplomat to Emperor Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor, Charles IV. Life Arnošt of Pardubice was probably born in Hostinka (today part of Vestec (Náchod District), Vestec), but possibly also in Kłodzko. He was the eldest son of Knight Arnošt of Hostinka, and spent his childhood in Kłodzko. Arnošt inherited the town of Pardubice in 1340. He was confirmed bishop of Prague on 11 March 1343 (3 March 1343 Julian calendar, O.S.), and was commissioned the first Archbishop of Prague on 8 May 1344 (30 April 1344 O.S.).
