Bogoslof Wilderness is a wilderness area in the U.S. state of Alaska. Located within the Aleutian Islands unit of Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, it is in area and was designated by the United States Congress in 1970. Aleutians West Census Area (russian: Западные Алеутские острова) is a census area located in the U.S. state of Alaska. As of the 2020 census, the population was 5,232, down from 5,561 in 2010. It is part of the Unorganized Borough and therefore has no borough seat. Its largest city is Unalaska, home to about 80% of the population. It contains most of the Aleutian Islands, from Attu Island in the west to Unalaska Island in the east, as well as the Pribilof Islands, which lie north of the Aleutians in the Bering Sea. Unalaska ( ale, Iluulux̂; russian: Уналашка) is the chief center of population in the Aleutian Islands. The city is in the Aleutians West Census Area, a regional component of the Unorganized Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska. The Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge (often shortened to Alaska Maritime or AMNWR) is a United States National Wildlife Refuge comprising 2,400 islands, headlands, rocks, islets, spires and reefs in Alaska, with a total area of , of which is wilderness. Bogoslof Island or Agasagook Island ( ale, Aĝasaaĝux̂) is the summit of a submarine stratovolcano at the south edge of the Bering Sea, northwest of Unalaska Island of the Aleutian Island chain. It has a land area of and is uninhabited. The peak elevation of the island is . It is long and wide. The stratovolcano rises about from the seabed, but the summit is the only part that projects above sea level.
