Boerlagella
''Planchonella'' is a genus of flowering trees in the gutta-percha family, Sapotaceae. Named in honour of Jules Émile Planchon, it contains around 100 mainly tropical species, two of which occur in South America and about 18 in Australasia. It was described by Jean Baptiste Louis Pierre. The genus is included in the larger genus ''Pouteria'' by some authorities, hence species such as ''Planchonella queenslandica'' are also known as ''Pouteria queenslandica''. ''latifolia'' in Narsapur, Medak district, India The Sapotaceae are a family (biology), family of flowering plants belonging to the order (biology), order Ericales. The family includes about 800 species of evergreen trees and shrubs in around 65 genera (35-75, depending on generic definition). Their distribution is pantropical. Many species produce edible fruits, or white blood-sap that is used to cleanse dirt, organically and manually, while others have other economic uses. Species noted for their edible fruits include ''Manilkara'' (sapodilla), ''Chrysophyllum cainito'' (star-apple or golden leaf tree), and ''Pouteria'' ('' abiu, canistel, lúcuma'', mamey sapote). ''Pouteria'' is a genus of flowering trees in the gutta-percha family, Sapotaceae. The genus is widespread throughout the tropical regions of the world. It includes the canistel ('' P. campechiana''), the mamey sapote ('' P. sapota''), and the lucuma ('' P. lucuma''). Commonly, this genus is known as pouteria trees, or in some cases, eggfruits. Jean Baptiste Louis Pierre
Jean Baptiste Louis Pierre (23 October 1833 – 30 October 1905), also known as J. B. Louis Pierre, was a French botanist known for his Asian studies. Early life Pierre was born in Saint-André, Réunion, and studied in Paris before working in the botanical gardens of Calcutta, India. Career In 1864 he founded the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, which he directed until 1877, after which he returned to Paris where he lived at 63 rue Monge, close to the Paris Herbarium. In 1883 he moved to Charenton, then to Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, then (circa 1893) to Saint-Mandé, and finally to 18 rue Cuvier in Paris, where he lived until his death. Pierre made many scientific explorations in tropical Asia. ''Pouteria myrsinoides'' is an Australian tree in the family Sapotaceae. The common names include yellow plumwood, axe-handle wood and blunt-leaved coondoo. It occurs in seaside rainforests and drier rainforests from the Forster, New South Wales to the Lakeland Downs in tropical Queensland. The subspecies ''reticulata'' occurs on Lord Howe Island and in New Caledonia. It is a small tree up to 12 metres tall with a stem diameter of 25 cm. The leaves are 2 to 10 cm long and 1 to 4 cm wide. Flowering occurs between May and November, sometimes as early as February.
