''Boeing-Boeing'' is a farce written by the French playwright Marc Camoletti. The English-language adaptation, translated by Beverley Cross, was first staged in London at the Apollo Theatre in 1962 and transferred to the Duchess Theatre in 1965, running for seven years. In 1991, the play was listed in the ''Guinness Book of Records'' as the most performed French play throughout the world. Synopsis The play is set in the 1960s, and centres on bachelor Bernard, who has a flat in Paris and three airline stewardesses all engaged to him without knowing about each other. Bernard's life gets bumpy, though, when his friend Robert comes to stay, and complications such as weather and a new, speedier Boeing jet disrupt his careful planning. Soon, all three stewardesses are in the city simultaneously and catastrophe looms. Marc Camoletti (16 November 1923 – 18 July 2003) was a French playwright best known for the farce '' Boeing-Boeing''. Early life Camoletti was born a French citizen in Geneva, Switzerland, though his family had Italian origins. His grandfather was the architect who designed the concert venue Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Musée d'art et d'histoire and the Hôtel des postes du Mont-Blanc. Marc Camoletti was a painter before starting a theatrical career. Career Camoletti's theatrical career began in 1958 when three of his plays were presented simultaneously in Paris, the first, '' La Bonne Anna'', running for 1,300 performances and going on to be performed throughout the world. W!LD RICE, founded in 2000 by Ivan Heng, is a professional theatre company in Singapore. In 2019, the company established a permanent performance venue at Funan Mall. History The first show by W!LD RICE was held at Jubilee Hall in Raffles Hotel. Since then, the company has operated out of a studio space in Little India. Productions have been held in rented venues such as the Victoria Theatre. In 2017, W!LD RICE kickstarted the process to acquire a permanent venue to hold productions, after seven failed attempts.
