''Bodyswerve'' is the debut solo album by former Cold Chisel vocalist Jimmy Barnes. The album was released on 10 September 1984 and went to No. 1 on the Kent Music Report Albums Chart. Note: Used for Australian Singles and Albums charting from 1974 until Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) created their own charts in mid-1988. It contains covers of tracks by Sam Cooke and Janis Joplin. " No Second Prize" was the album's first single. Details "No Second Prize" was originally demoed by Cold Chisel but never recorded by them. It was written in 1980 as a tribute to Chisel roadies Alan Dallow and Billy Rowe, who died in a truck crash. "Daylight" was also originally a Cold Chisel song. That band's version later appeared on the 1994 album ''Teenage Love''. A version of this song was also used in a TV commercial promoting milk. "Daylight" is a song by Australian rock musician, Jimmy Barnes. Released in January 1985 as the third and final single from his debut studio album, ''Bodyswerve''. The song peaked at number 12 on the Australian Kent Music Report. A limited edition of the single featuring the first live recording of the Jimmy Barnes band with the band's performance of "Resurrection Shuffle" (Recorded in December 1984) as the b-side of side two as well as a poster pack sold for 2.99 dollars. Barnes originally wrote and recorded the song (then titled "A Little Bit of Daylight") while he was still with Cold Chisel. The Cold Chisel version (which is faster, and features a significantly different arrangement and different lyrics) remained unissued until the release of the band's post-split compilation ''Teenage Love'' in 1994. James Dixon "Jimmy" Barnes (née Swan; born 28 April 1956) is a Scottish-born Australian rock singer. His career, both as a solo performer and as the lead vocalist with the rock band Cold Chisel, has made him one of the most popular and best-selling Australian music artists of all time. Barnes has achieved 15 solo number one albums in Australia, more than any other artist. Additionally Barnes achieved 5 more as lead singer of Cold Chisel, bringing his combined sum to 20 number one albums in Australia, comfortably eclipsing the Beatles (with 14), Madonna (12), Eminem and U2 (11). Venetta Lee Fields (born 1941) is an American-born singer, musical theater actress and vocal coach. Mark Opitz (born 1952) is an Australian record producer and audio engineer. He started his career with Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in 1971. He has produced AC/DC, the Angels, Australian Crawl, Cold Chisel, Divinyls and INXS. He has won the ARIA Award for Producer of the Year in 1987 and 1988. Fraternity (band)
Fraternity were an Australian rock band which formed in Sydney in 1970 and relocated to Adelaide, South Australia, Adelaide in 1971. Former members include successive lead vocalists Bon Scott (who later joined AC/DC), Swanee (singer), John Swan (who also played drums and later had a solo career), and his brother Jimmy Barnes (Cold Chisel). Their biggest local hit was a cover version of "Seasons of Change" which peaked at No. 1 in Adelaide, but nationally it was overrun by the original Blackfeather version. The group won the 1971 Hoadley's Battle of the Sounds with the prize being a free trip to London.
