Henry Bodrugan (died 1308)
Sir Henry de Bodrugan (c.1263–1308) was a Cornish landowner, knight and politician. Family Bodrugan was the son and heir of Sir Roger de Bodrugan (d. 1277) by Isolda de Pyn, (d.1311), daughter of Symon de Pyn and later the wife of Sir Henry de Pomeroy (d. 1281), and Sir Walter de Aylesbury. Isolda's great uncle was the Seneschal and High Sheriff of Cornwall, Sir Stephen Haym, one of the founding canons of Glasney College. When his father died Henry was still under aged and his wardship went to Sir William de Alneto. On 19 May 1277 Henry's wardship was purchased by his uncle, William Bodrugan, later Provost of Glasney, and Archdeacon of Cornwall. Henry became the heir of both his uncle, William, and his great uncle, Reginald. In 1287 he married Sybil de Mandeville (29 September 1264–c.1307) daughter of an unknown Mandeville and his wife Alice Giffard. Nicholas Bodrugan
Nicholas Adams, (''alias'' Bodrugan) (''fl.'' 1521 – ''c.'' 1584), of the Middle Temple, London and Townstal (''alias'' Tunstall), near Dartmouth in Devon, was an English Member of Parliament. Career He was the 1st son of John Adams of Venn, Devon and Catherine, daughter of John Stebbing alias Bodrugan of Dartmouth. He was educated in Middle Temple, London. He held the office of Counsel to Dartmouth by 1542-51 or later. Adams was a Member of Parliament for West Looe in 1547, and Dartmouth in March 1553, October 1553, April 1554 and November 1554. Otto Bodrugan (died 1331)
Sir Otto I Bodrugan (6 January 1290 – 6 September 1331), his name often written at the time as Otes, was an English landowner, soldier and politician from St Goran in Cornwall. Origins From a leading Cornish family, with extensive lands and a long tradition of public service, he was the eldest son and heir of Sir Henry Bodrugan and his wife Sibyl Mandeville. Being born on 6 January 1290, he was underage when both his parents died and could not inherit his estates until he reached majority in 1311. These included the manors of Bodrugan in St Goran, Restronguet in Feock, Tremodret in Roche and Tregrehan in St Blazey, as well as the borough of Looe and six advowsons. Career In 1321 he joined in the rebellion against the Despensers and was later pardoned for his part in the revolt. In 1324 he was chosen as a member of the Parliament of England for Cornwall, as his father had been in 1307. William de Bodrugan (c. 1250-1307), sometimes referred to as a knight, was a Cornish priest and landowner, who became firstly Provost of Glasney College, and secondly Archdeacon of Cornwall. Family William was the second son of Philip de Bodrugan and his wife Rosea, or Roslyn, perhaps the daughter of Luke de Hendresuk of Talland. His elder brother, Roger, died in 1277, leaving his son, Henry Bodrugan, heir to the family's estates, under aged. William purchased Henry's wardship from Sir William de Alneto on 19 May 1277, thereby recovering control of the family's property. Bodrugan, Cornwall
St Goran is a coastal civil parish in Cornwall, England, UK, six miles (10 km) south-southwest of St Austell. The largest settlement in the parish is the coastal village of Gorran Haven, a mile to the east with a further cluster of homes at Trevarrick. The population (including Boswinger) at the 2011 census was 1,411. The parish is bounded by the sea to the east and south. It is bordered by St Michael Caerhays parish to the west and by St Ewe and Mevagissey parishes to the north. The patron saint Guron or Goronus is said to have come here from Bodmin. The parish church is a fine building of the 15th century though the foundation is Norman. Features of interest include the bench ends and the late medieval font. At Gorran Haven is a 15th-century chapel of St Just, restored in the 1860s.
