Bobby Ross (footballer, Born 1942)
Robert Herdman Ross (born 18 May 1942) is a Scottish retired professional football forward, midfielder and coach, best remembered for his six years as a player at Brentford, for whom he made 323 appearances. He spent over two decades working in the youth system at Queens Park Rangers, retiring in 2008. He is a member of the Brentford Hall Of Fame. Playing career Heart of Midlothian Growing up in Edinburgh, Scotland, Ross began his career at local junior clubs Tynecastle Athletic and Musselburgh Athletic, before signing for reigning Scottish League First Division champions Heart of Midlothian in November 1960. His professional debut came on 1 April 1961, when aged just 18, he appeared in a 1–1 draw with Raith Rovers. Ross made two further appearances towards the end of the 1960–61 season. The Football League Fourth Division was the fourth-highest division in the English football league system from the 1958–59 season until the creation of the Premier League prior to the 1992–93 season. Whilst the division disappeared in name in 1992, the 4th tier of English football continued as the Football League Third Division, and later became known as Football League Two. John Regan (footballer)
Matthew John Regan (born 18 June 1944) is an English former professional footballer who scored 55 goals from 185 appearances in the Football League playing for Birmingham City, Shrewsbury Town, Brentford, Crewe Alexandra and Doncaster Rovers. He played as a centre forward. Regan was born in Worcester. He played football from age 11 until 16 at the Sacred Heart College in Droitwich and went on to WRGS for A-levels. Royal Grammar School being a rugby-playing establishment, Birmingham City's scouts spotted him with his junior club. He signed for Birmingham in 1959, initially as an amateur, and turned professional two years later. Regan scored the opening goal on his debut in the First Division on 13 October 1962, deputising for Jimmy Harris in a home game against Manchester City which finished as a 2–2 draw.
