Bobby Holm
Robert Charles Holm (January 22, 1919 – April 14, 2002) was an American professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball League (United States), National Basketball League for the Sheboygan Red Skins and Hammond Calumet Buccaneers and averaged 5.2 points per game. He also played in the American Basketball League (1925–55), American Basketball League, the New York State Professional Basketball League, and the Professional Basketball League of America. Bobby Holm is the cousin of Olympic gold medalist swimmer Eleanor Holm. Guard (basketball)
In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. Over time, as more specialized roles developed, each of the guards and forwards came to be differentiated, and today each of the five positions are known by unique names, each of which has also been assigned a number: point guard (PG) or 1, the shooting guard (SG) or 2, the small forward (SF) or 3, the power forward (PF) or 4, and the center (C) or 5. Eleanor Holm
Eleanor G. Holm (December 6, 1913 – January 31, 2004) was an American competition swimmer and Olympic gold medalist. An Olympian in 1928 and 1932, she was expelled from the 1936 Summer Olympics team by Avery Brundage under controversial circumstances. She went on to have a high-profile career as a socialite and interior designer, and co-starred in a Hollywood Tarzan movie, ''Tarzan's Revenge''. Biography Holm was born in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of a fireman and cousin to professional basketball player Bobby Holm. She learned to swim while very young. Winning her first national swimming title at age 13, she was selected to compete in the 1928 Summer Olympics, where she finished fifth in her specialty, the 100-meter backstroke. The Professional Basketball League of America (1947–1948) was a basketball league in the United States that was started in 1947 in response to the tremendous upsurge in interest in basketball in the era immediately following World War II.
