Bobby Duggan
Bobby Duggan (born 1995) is an Irish hurler who plays as a centre-forward for the Clare senior team. Born in Clarecastle, County Clare, Duggan was introduced to hurling in his youth. He first came to prominence playing in the Harty Cup with St. Flannan's College while simultaneously joining the minor and under-21 teams with the Clarecastle club. Duggan subsequently joined the club's senior team. Duggan made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Clare minor team before later enjoying All-Ireland success with the under-21 team. He made his senior debut during the 2014 Waterford Crystal Cup. He has since gone on to become a regular member of the Clare senior team. Clarecastle
Clarecastle (''An Clár'' or ) is a village just south of Ennis in County Clare, Ireland. From 2008 to 2016 the village saw a significant population increase due to its proximity to Ennis, Shannon, and Limerick. Name The town is named after the Clare Castle, which stands on an island in the narrowest navigable part of the River Fergus. The Irish ''Clár'', meaning a wooden board, is often used for a bridge. The name probably originated as ''Clár adar da choradh'', which means "the bridge between two weirs". Another explanation of the name is that the de Clare family gave the castle its name, since they had acquired land in Kilkenny and Thomond that included the castle. Hurling
Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. Clare County Hurling Team
The Clare county hurling team represents Clare in hurling and is governed by Clare GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions - the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Munster Senior Hurling Championship and the National Hurling League. The 2014 Waterford Crystal Cup was the ninth staging of the Waterford Crystal Cup since its establishment in 2006. The competition began on 12 January 2014 and ended on 7 February 2014. It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in the province of Munster. The championship was contested as the Munster Under-21 Championship between 1964 and 2018 before changing to an under-20 age category from 2019. It is sponsored by Bord Gáis Energy.
