''Bobby Darin Sings Doctor Dolittle'' is an album by American singer Bobby Darin, released in 1967. It was arranged and conducted by Roger Kellaway. The album sold poorly, received little label promotion and was subsequently dropped from the label's catalog. This, in part, was to blame for Darin's separation from Atlantic and the beginning of his own label, Direction. Reception Music critic JT Griffith wrote in his Allmusic review "Not an essential Darin album, even to crazed fans. Bobby Darin (born Walden Robert Cassotto; May 14, 1936 – December 20, 1973) was an American musician and actor. He performed jazz, Pop music, pop, rock and roll, Folk music, folk, Swing music, swing, and country music. He started his career as a songwriter for Connie Francis. He recorded his first million-selling single, "Splish Splash (song), Splish Splash", in 1958. That was followed by "Dream Lover", "Mack the Knife#Popular song, Mack the Knife", and "Beyond the Sea (song), Beyond the Sea", which brought him worldwide fame. Ahmet Ertegun (, Turkish spelling: Ahmet Ertegün; ; – December 14, 2006) was a Turkish-American businessman, songwriter, record executive and philanthropist. Ertegun was the co-founder and president of Atlantic Records. He discovered and championed many leading rhythm and blues and rock musicians. Ertegun also wrote classic blues and pop songs. He served as the chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and museum, located in Cleveland, Ohio. Ertegun has been described as "one of the most significant figures in the modern recording industry." Like its predecessor, ''Inside Out'' contains songs by Tim Hardin and John Sebastian, as well as Randy Newman and The Rolling Stones. Roger Kellaway (born November 1, 1939) is an American composer, arranger and jazz pianist. Life and career Kellaway was born in Waban, Massachusetts, United States. He is an alumnus of the New England Conservatory. Kellaway has composed commissioned works for ensembles of various sizes. He also has composed music for film, television, ballet and stage productions. Pianist Phil Saltman was one of his early mentors. In 1964, Kellaway was a piano sideman for composer/arranger Boris Midney’s group The Russian Jazz Quartet's album ''Happiness'' on ABC/Impulse jazz records. John Haeny is an American-born music producer, recording and mixing engineer, sound designer and academic. From the late 1960s through the late 1980s he recorded, mixed and produced hundreds of albums. He worked with a variety of artists across multiple genres including Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Jim Morrison, Tom Jones, Warren Zevon and Linda Ronstadt to Weather Report, John Coltrane, Freddie Hubbard and Duke Ellington.
