Bob Wilson (ice Hockey)
Robert Wayne Wilson (February 18, 1934 – July 29, 2020) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played in one game in the National Hockey League for the Chicago Black Hawks during the 1953–54 season, on February 4, 1054 against the New York Rangers. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1954 to 1970, was spent in the minor leagues. Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). They were once called cover-point. In regular play, two defencemen complement three Forward (ice hockey), forwards and a goaltender on the ice. Galt Black Hawks
The Galt Black Hawks were a junior ice hockey team based in Galt, Ontario, now a part of the city of Cambridge, Ontario, Cambridge. They played in the Ontario Hockey League, Ontario Hockey Association from 1949 to 1955 and were operated as an affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Black Hawks. Their home arena was the Galt Arena Gardens. The team had previously been affiliated with the Detroit Red Wings as the Galt Red Wings, and had also been known as the Galt Canadians, and the Galt Rockets. The sponsorship by the Chicago Black Hawks took over in 1949, and lasted until the team folded in 1955. The team's best players were quickly promoted to the NHL, leaving Galt with a dismal won/loss record while sponsored by the Chicago Black Hawks. The Trois-Rivières Lions are a professional minor league ice hockey team in the ECHL based in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada. The team began play in the 2021–22 ECHL season, with home games at Colisée Vidéotron. They are affiliated with the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League and Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League. OHA Senior A League (1890–1979)
The Ontario Hockey Association Senior A League was a top tier Canadian senior ice hockey league in Ontario from 1890 until 1979. The league was sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Association and the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association and its clubs competed for the Allan Cup. History The league was founded in 1890 by the Ontario Hockey Association. At the top tier of Canadian Senior hockey, the league was eligible and often competed for the Allan Cup. In 1975, the OHA allowed Hockey Northwestern Ontario's Thunder Bay Twins, the defending Allan Cup champions to enter the league. Windsor Bulldogs
The Windsor Bulldogs are a defunct semi-professional and amateur senior ice hockey team. The team played in the City of Windsor, Ontario, Canada and participated in the International Hockey League and the OHA Senior A Hockey League prior to the IHL. History The creation of the Windsor Bulldogs in 1953 coincided with the folding of the Ontario Hockey Association's Junior "A" Windsor Spitfires. Although no Spitfires made the direct jump to the Bulldogs, eventually five members of the team did eventually play for the Bulldogs. In 1955, the Windsor Bulldogs made it to the OHA Senior league's final, but were put down by the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen in five games. The Bulldogs were showing their worth by only their second season. The 1959–60 season saw the Bulldogs make the final again. The International Hockey League (IHL) was a minor professional ice hockey league in the United States and Canada that operated from 1945 to 2001. American Hockey League
The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary Minor league#Ice hockey, developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). Since the 2010–11 AHL season, 2010–11 season, every team in the league has an affiliation agreement with one NHL team. When NHL teams do not have an AHL affiliate, players are assigned to AHL teams affiliated with other NHL teams. The Buffalo Bisons were an American Hockey League ice hockey franchise that played from 1940 to 1970 in Buffalo, New York. They replaced the Buffalo Bisons (IHL), original Buffalo Bisons hockey team, which left the area in 1936 after Peace Bridge Arena, its arena collapsed.
