Bob Sullivan (rugby League)
Bob Sullivan was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s and 1950s. He played in the NSWRFL premiership for North Sydney as a five-eighth. Playing career Sullivan began his first grade career in 1949 with North Sydney. In the early 1950s, Sullivan was a member of the North Sydney sides which reached the preliminary finals but fell short of a grand final appearance. In 1954, Sullivan was selected to play for Australia against Great Britain and in the same year was selected to play for New South Wales in the interstate series against Queensland. Sullivan played with North Sydney up until the end of 1959 where he captained North Sydney to a reserve grade premiership, his last game in first grade was during the 1957 season. North Sydney Bears
The North Sydney Bears is an Australian rugby league football club based in North Sydney, New South Wales. The club competes in the New South Wales Cup, having exited the National Rugby League following the 1999 NRL season after 90 years in the premier rugby league competition in Australia. North Sydney is based on Sydney's Lower North Shore (Sydney), Lower North Shore, and has played at North Sydney Oval since 1910. There have been on-going bids to resurrect the club in the NRL as either ''The Bears'', based in Perth and Sydney, or as the Central Coast Bears, based at Gosford. Fred Griffiths (rugby League)
Fred Griffiths ( — 2000), also known by the nickname of "Punchy", was a Rhodesian professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s, and coached in the 1960s. A South Africa international representative back, he played his club football in England for Wigan and in Australia for North Sydney, who he also captained and coached. New South Wales Rugby League Team
The New South Wales rugby league team has represented the Australian state of New South Wales in rugby league football since the sport's beginnings there in 1907. Also known as the Blues due to their sky blue jerseys, the team competes in the annual State of Origin series. This annual event is a series of three games competing for the State of Origin shield. As of 2022, the team is coached by Brad Fittler and captained by James Tedesco. Prior to 1980 when the "state-of-origin" selection criteria were introduced, the New South Wales team, in addition to playing annually against Queensland, played matches against foreign touring sides and occasionally toured overseas themselves. Greg Hawick
Greg Hawick (3 May 1932 – 6 February 2020) was an Australian rugby league footballer and coach. A fine utility back for the champion South Sydney Rabbitohs teams in the 1950s and a representative player in the Australian national side, he was named at in an Australian 1950s rugby league team of the decade. Playing career Club A South Sydney junior Hawick had played with the Alexandria Rovers junior club. Hawick made his first-grade debut with Souths in 1950 as a lock forward but subsequently switched to the backline playing halfback and centre. He won a premiership with Souths in his debut year, but then missed out on a second in season 1951 when his jaw was broken in the semi-final against St George. Sid Deane
Sid Deane (1885–1967) was a foundation Australian rugby league player. He was a centre for the Australia national team. He played in five Tests between 1908 and 1914.
