J. Robert Kelly (September 26, 1916 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Clarksburg West Virginia – July 4, 2007 in Urbana, Illinois, Urbana, Illinois) was an American composer, composition teacher, and violinist. Kelly began studying violin at six with Albert Kember and later majored in violin at the Juilliard School of Music under Samuel Gardner. Kelly earned his Bachelor of Music Degree (1942) from the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied composition with Rosario Scalero. After earning his Bachelor's degree and some time teaching junior college, Kelly begin teaching at the University of Illinois (1946-1976). Robert Kelly (16 November 1893 – 22 September 1969) was an English professional footballer. He broke the British football transfer record when he moved from Burnley to Sunderland for £6,550 in 1925. He spent two years at the Roker Park club before joining Huddersfield Town. He later played for Preston North End. He made 14 appearances for England between 1920 and 1928, scoring eight goals. Robert Laurens Kelly (born March 16, 1957) is an American anthropologist who is a professor at the University of Wyoming. As a professor, he has taught introductory Archaeology as well as upper-level courses focused in Hunter-Gathers, North American Archaeology, Lithic Analysis, and Human Behavioral Ecology. Kelly's interest in archaeology began when he was a sophomore in high school in 1973. His first experience in fieldwork was an excavation of Gatecliff Rockshelter, a prehistoric site in central Nevada. Since then, Kelly has been involved with archaeology and has dedicated the majority of his work to the ethnology, ethnography, and archaeology of foraging peoples, which include research on lithic technology, initial colonization of the New World, evolutionary ecology of hunter-gatherers, and archaeological method and theory. Robert Raymond Kelley (June 28, 1936 – October 12, 2014), better known as "Cowboy" Bob Kelly, was an American professional wrestler and booker best known for his in-ring tenure during the 1960s and 70s. Arguably the most popular wrestler to compete in Gulf Coast Championship Wrestling, Kelly has been described as "John Wayne, Wyatt Earp and Roy Rogers all rolled into one" and a "hero to thousands upon thousands of Gulf Coast Wrestling Fans". Sir Robert McErlean Kelly (1902 – 21 September 1971) was appointed a member of the board of Scottish football club Celtic after the death of his father James Kelly in 1931. He later became chairman in 1947, a position he held until 1971. Early life Robert Kelly was born in 1902, the fourth son in a family of six sons and four daughters. His father James Kelly played for Celtic, and was the club's first ever captain. James Kelly subsequently became a director at the club and had a brief spell as chairman. Robert Kelly's mother, Margaret, was also herself the daughter of a Celtic founder. Kelly and his brothers were educated at St Joseph's College, Dumfries, a fee-paying school opened to develop a professional Catholic middle class in Scotland.
