Bob Herron
Bob Herron (born March 9, 1951) is a Democratic former member of the Alaska House of Representatives, representing the 38th District from 2009 until 2017. Herron was the Majority Whip, granting him the distinction of being the only Representative in the United States elected as a Democrat who served as a statewide leader of a Republican party-majority legislative body. The official job of the Whip is to make sure that House members vote in line with Republican leadership. Before the beginning of the 26th Legislature, in January 2008 Representative Herron, began caucusing with the Republicans in the House Majority Caucus. Mary Peltola
Mary Sattler Peltola (née Sattler; Yup'ik: Akalleq; formerly Kapsner; born August 31, 1973) is an American politician and former tribal judge serving as the U.S. representative from since September 2022. She previously served as a judge on the Orutsararmiut Native Council's tribal court, executive director of the Kuskokwim River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission, and member of the Alaska state legislature. A member of the Democratic Party, Peltola defeated former Governor Sarah Palin and Alaska Policy Forum board member Nick Begich in an upset in the August 2022 special election to succeed Don Young, who died in March that year. In doing so, she became the first Alaska Native member of Congress and the only Russian Orthodox, as well as the first woman ever to represent Alaska in the House, and first Democrat since Nick Begich Sr. in 1972. Zach Fansler is an American politician. He served on the Bethel City Council from 2014 to 2016, and in the Alaska House of Representatives from the 38th District from 2017 to 2018. He was first elected to the House in 2016, defeating Majority Whip Bob Herron in the Democratic primary. Fansler resigned on February 12, 2018, due to allegations of assault. Biography Early life Fansler was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. He has lived in Bethel, Alaska since 2011, and lived there previously from 2001 to 2004.
