Bob Bruer
Robert Anthony Bruer (born May 22, 1953) is a former American football player and coach. He played tight end in the National Football League (NFL) for the San Francisco 49ers and the Minnesota Vikings from 1977 until 1985. Playing career Bruer played for the San Francisco 49ers for four seasons and moved to the Minnesota Vikings for the remainder of his career. Previously, he played two seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Bruer caught Joe Montana's first NFL touchdown pass on November 18, 1979. Tight End
The tight end (TE) is a position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football, on the offense. The tight end is often a hybrid position with the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a wide receiver. Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. On the other hand, unlike offensive linemen, they are eligible receivers adept enough to warrant a defense's attention when running pass patterns. Because of the hybrid nature of the position, the tight end's role in any given offense depends on the tactical preferences and philosophy of the head coach as well as overall team dynamic. In some systems, the tight end will merely act as a sixth offensive lineman, rarely going out for passes.
