Bob Ashley (editor)
Robert G. Ashley (born July 4, 1953, Charleston, West Virginia) is an American politician from West Virginia. A Republican, Ashley served in the West Virginia Senate for the 3rd district between 2015 and 2017. He was previously a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 11th district between 2001 and 2015 and the 28th district from January 1985 until January 1999. Education Ashley earned his BBA from Marshall University. Elections *2012 Ashley was unopposed for the May 8, 2012 Republican Primary, winning with 1,475 votes; returning 2010 opponent Mark Myers ran as the Mountain Party candidate, setting up a rematch. West Virginia's 3rd Senate District
West Virginia's 3rd Senate district is one of 17 districts in the West Virginia Senate. It is currently represented by Republicans Donna Boley and Mike Azinger. All districts in the West Virginia Senate elect two members to staggered four-year terms. Geography District 3 covers much of the Mid-Ohio Valley region, including all of Pleasants, Wirt, and Wood Counties and parts of Roane County. It is based in the city of Parkersburg, also covering the nearby communities of Vienna, Williamstown, Blennerhassett, Mineralwells, Elizabeth, and St. Marys. The district is located largely within West Virginia's 1st congressional district, with a small portion extending into West Virginia's 2nd congressional district, and overlaps with the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th districts of the West Virginia House of Delegates. The West Virginia Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. state of West Virginia. A bicameral legislative body, the legislature is split between the upper Senate and the lower House of Delegates. It was established under Article VI of the West Virginia Constitution following the state's split from Virginia during the American Civil War in 1863. As with its neighbor and former constituent Virginia General Assembly, the legislature's lower house is also referred to as a "House of Delegates." The Mountain Party is a political party in West Virginia, affiliated with the Green Party of the United States. It is a progressive and environmentalist party whose party platform primarily focuses on "Grassroots Democracy", "Social Justice & Equal Opportunity", "Ecological Wisdom" and "Non-Violence".
