Boaz Kofman
Boaz Kofman ( he, בועז קופמן) is a former Israeli footballer and football manager who played for Hapoel Petah Tikva, where he also served as manager, and for the Israel national football team. Career Playing career Kofman joined Hapoel Petah Tikva at the age of 9 and graduated to the senior team in 1953, where he played until the end of the 1966–68 season, winning 6 league titles and one cup. During his Time with the club, Kofman scored 121 league goals and 29 cup goals, including scoring in three cup finals. After Kofman's departure from Hapoel Petah Tikva, he served as player-manager at Sektzia Ness Ziona for one season, before returning to Hapoel Petah Tikva at the beginning of the 1969–70 season. However, Kofman didn't play during the first half of the season, and in February 1970, Kofman was transferred to Beitar Tel Aviv Kofman retired from active play in 1971, after a season at Beitar Lod, where he served as player-manager. Petah Tikva
Petah Tikva ( he, פֶּתַח תִּקְוָה, , ), also known as ''Em HaMoshavot'' (), is a city in the Central District (Israel), Central District of Israel, east of Tel Aviv. It was founded in 1878, mainly by Haredi Judaism, Haredi Jews of the Old Yishuv, and became a permanent settlement in 1883 with the financial help of Edmond James de Rothschild, Baron Edmond de Rothschild. USSR National Football Team
The Soviet Union national football team ( rus, сбо́рная СССР по футбо́лу, r=sbórnaya SSSR po futbólu) was the national football team of the former Soviet Union. After the breakup of the Union the team was transformed into the CIS national football team. FIFA considers the CIS national football team (and ultimately, the Russia national football team) as the Soviet successor team allocating its former records to them (except for the Olympic records which are not combined due to the IOC policy); nevertheless, a large percentage of the team's former players came from outside the Russian SFSR, mainly from the Ukrainian SSR, and following the breakup of the Soviet Union, some such as Andrei Kanchelskis from the former Ukrainian SSR, continued to play in the new Russia national football team. Liga Leumit ( he, ליגה לאומית, lit. ''National League'') is the second division of the Israeli Football League, and below its Premier League. Structure There are 16 clubs in the league. At the end of each season, the two lowest-placed teams are relegated to Liga Alef while the two highest-placed teams from Liga Alef are promoted in their place. The two highest-placed Liga Leumit teams are promoted to the Israeli Premier League while the bottom two teams from Israeli Premier League are relegated in their place. The 1976–77 Liga Artzit season was the first in which Liga Artzit came into existence. the league had 12 clubs (expanded to 14 the next season as three clubs were relegated from the Liga Leumit and only one promoted). The 1973–74 Liga Leumit season saw Maccabi Netanya win their second title. Benny Alon of Hapoel Haifa was the league's top scorer with 15 goals. The bottom two clubs, Hakoah Ramat Gan (who had won the title the previous season) and Maccabi Haifa took part in a play-off group with the top four clubs from Liga Alef to decide promotion and relegation. The top two clubs would remain in/be promoted to Liga Leumit, whilst the bottom four would start the 1974–75 season in Liga Alef. Hapoel ( he, הפועל, lit. ''the worker'') is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. Therefore, Hapoel became a member of SASI in 1927 and later was a member of CSIT. After the State of Israel was established, the rival sport organizations reached a 1951 agreement that allowed joint sports associations and competitions open for all Israeli residents.
