The Board of Education Act 1899 was an Act of Parliament, Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom concerning education. The act created the Board of Education (United Kingdom), Board of Education to replace the previous Education and Science and Art departments. The Board acted as a central authority for education in the United Kingdom. As part of its responsibilities, it was empowered to create a register of teachers. The Parliament of the United Kingdom is the supreme legislative body of the United Kingdom, the Crown Dependencies and the British Overseas Territories. It meets at the Palace of Westminster, London. It alone possesses legislative supremacy and thereby ultimate power over all other political bodies in the UK and the overseas territories.
