Blue Train (Yugoslavia)
Tito's ''Blue Train'' ( sr, Плави воз, Plavi voz; hr, Plavi vlak; sl, Modri vlak; mk, Синиот воз, Siniot voz) is a luxury train, once used by Josip Broz Tito, while president of the former Yugoslavia. It is now operated as a tourist attraction on the Belgrade–Bar railway, between Belgrade, capital of Serbia, and Bar, a coastal town in Montenegro. The train is stationed at the Topčider depot in Belgrade and can be visited for a fee. Tito's era The train was introduced in the 1950s with Art Deco interior design features. It was used to take Tito and his wife to the Brijuni islands in Croatia during the summer, and it also hosted meetings with important foreign dignitaries. Among those who travelled on the train as Tito's guests were Haile Selassie, François Mitterrand, Yasser Arafat, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sukarno and, in October 1972, Queen Elizabeth II. François Mitterrand
François Marie Adrien Maurice Mitterrand (26 October 19168 January 1996) was President of France, serving under that position from 1981 to 1995, the longest time in office in the history of France. As First Secretary of the Socialist Party, he was the first left-wing politician to assume the presidency under the Fifth Republic. Reflecting family influences, Mitterrand started political life on the Catholic nationalist right. He served under the Vichy regime during its earlier years. Subsequently he joined the Resistance, moved to the left, and held ministerial office several times under the Fourth Republic. The Córas Iompair Éireann 071 Class or Northern Ireland Railways 111 Class is a General Motors Electro-Motive Division EMD JT22CW series diesel-electric locomotive used in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Serbia utilises four similar locomotives as JŽ series 666. Progress Rail Locomotives, doing business as Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD), is an American manufacturer of diesel-electric locomotives, locomotive products and diesel engines for the rail industry. The company is owned by Caterpillar through its subsidiary Progress Rail. DB Class V 200 (also known as Class 220) was the first series production diesel-hydraulic express locomotive of the German Deutsche Bundesbahn and – as Am 4/4 – of the SBB-CFF-FFS in Switzerland. History DB Service Five prototypes of the V 200 were built by Krauss-Maffei in 1953/1954. Full production began in 1956, with 61 engines being built by Krauss-Maffei and 20 by MaK. These five V 200 prototypes were put through extensive testing, the aim being to ensure the production locomotives would be as reliable as the technology and maintenance standards of the 1950s allowed. Krauss-Maffei ML 2200 C'C'
The diesel-hydraulic locomotive ML 2200 C'C' was a 6 axle variant of the DB Class V 200 series of locomotives, which were built for Yugoslav State Railways (JDŽ) by manufacturer Krauss-Maffei. The JDŽ bought three units, which it initially named D 66, later these were named JŽ series 761 A fourth engine was rebuilt as ML 3000 C'C', which was eventually purchased by the Deutsche Bundesbahn and numbered V 300 001 (after 1968 as 230 001). Background, design and production In 1955, the German Federal Railways (Deutsche Bundesbahn), together with the company Krauss-Maffei, took the DB Class V 200 locomotive V 200 005 on a demonstration journey to Turkey, Greece, and Yugoslavia.
