Blue Sky Green Field Wind Farm
Blue Sky Green Field Wind Energy Center is a wind farm in northeast Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin. The facility is located in the towns of Calumet and Marshfield. Owned by We Energies, it became the largest operating installation using wind power in Wisconsin when it came online in 2008. History An application for authorization to construct the Blue Sky Green Field Wind Farm was filed with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) on March 17, 2006. On February 1, 2007, the PSCW issued the certificate of public convenience and necessity authorizing the project. Construction on the farm began in June 2007 by Alliant Wind Connect at a cost of $300 million. Testing began in 2008, and the farm was placed in service on May 19, 2008. Johnsburg, Wisconsin is an unincorporated community in the Town of Calumet in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin. The community is located on County Roads Q and W, approximately east of Lake Winnebago, southeast of Pipe and northwest of Malone. Johnsburg is part of the Holyland region in northeastern Fond du Lac county. Church / history St. John the Baptist Catholic Church is a prominent building in Johnsburg. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as number 80000137. The congregation was founded by six families in 1841. When built in 1842, the church was the first in the approximately 100 miles (160 kilometers) between Milwaukee and Green Bay. Kiel is a city in Calumet and Manitowoc counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 3,738 at the 2010 census. Of this, 3,429 residents lived in Manitowoc County, and 309 residents lived in Calumet County. The city is located primarily within Manitowoc County, though a portion extends west into adjacent Calumet County and is known as "Hinzeville". ''The Reporter'' is a daily newspaper based in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin owned by Gannett. It serves primarily Fond du Lac and northern Dodge County in East Central Wisconsin. The ''Reporter'' traces its founding to August 22, 1870 when the ''Fond du Lac Commonwealth'', which had been a weekly newspaper since 1856, began daily circulation.
