Blue Meanies (Yellow Submarine)
The Blue Meanies are a fictional army of fierce, buffoonish, music-hating beings and the main antagonists in the surreal 1968 Beatles animated film '' Yellow Submarine''. They allegorically represent all the bad people in the world. Their visual appearance was mostly designed by Heinz Edelmann. Producer Al Brodax said that the Chief Blue Meanie resembled production coordinator Abe Goodman. Description The Blue Meanies are focused on the occupation and silencing of Pepperland—a colorful, musical utopia that lies beneath the sea. The Meanies have blue skin and claw-like, six-fingered hands. They wear black masks around their eyes and hats that resemble Mickey Mouse ears on their heads. They are humanoid in appearance—albeit with blue faces and very long noses. History The Blue Meanies arrive in Pepperland and do everything they can to oppress the peaceful, music-loving paradise. This prompts one of Pepperland's sailors, the former Commander now newly appointed Lord Admir ...

Ratlines (World War II Aftermath)
Ratlines (german: Rattenlinien) were a system of escape routes for Nazis and other fascists fleeing Europe in the aftermath of World War II. These escape routes mainly led toward havens in Latin America, particularly Argentina, though also Paraguay, Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Guatemala, Ecuador and Bolivia, as well as the United States, Spain and Switzerland. There were two primary routes: the first went from Germany to Spain, then Argentina; the second from Germany to Rome to Genoa, then South America. The two routes developed independently but eventually came together. The ratlines were supported by some controversial clergy of the Catholic Church, and later used by the United States Intelligence officers. While reputable scholars unanimously consider Nazi leader Adolf Hitler to have committed suicide in Berlin near the end of the war, various conspiracy theories claim that he survived the war and fled to Argentina. Early Spanish ratlines The orig ...

All You Need Is Love
"All You Need Is Love" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles that was released as a non-album single in July 1967. It was written by John Lennon and credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership. The song was Britain's contribution to '' Our World'', the first live global television link, for which the band were filmed performing it at EMI Studios in London on 25 June. The programme was broadcast via satellite and seen by an audience of over 400 million in 25 countries. Lennon's lyrics were deliberately simplistic, to allow for the show's international audience, and captured the utopian ideals associated with the Summer of Love. The single topped sales charts in Britain, the United States and many other countries, and became an anthem for the counterculture's embrace of flower power philosophy. ''Our World'' coincided with the height of the Beatles' popularity and influence, following the release of their album ''Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band''. Rather than pe ...
