Chernobyl Disaster
The Chernobyl disaster was a nuclear accident that occurred on 26 April 1986 at the No. 4 reactor in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, near the city of Pripyat in the north of the Ukrainian SSR in the Soviet Union. It is one of only two nuclear energy accidents rated at seven—the maximum severity—on the International Nuclear Event Scale, the other being the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan. The initial emergency response, together with later decontamination of the environment, involved more than 500,000 personnel and cost an estimated 18 billion roubles—roughly US$68 billion in 2019, adjusted for inflation. was the twelfth single by the Japanese band The Blue Hearts and reached #29 on the Oricon charts in 1992. Details ''Too Much Pain'' was released as part of The Blue Hearts' fifth album, ''High Kicks'', which had been released on December 21, 1991, but the song itself was from the band's amateur days many years prior. They had planned on including it in the independent release with ''Blue Hearts Theme'' and ''Chernobyl'', but the song ''Sha La La'' was thought to be a better fit. Up until 1987, the song was performed regularly, with nothing more than Mashima's guitar and Hiroto Kōmoto's vocals. After that, they only played the song on special occasions. The last time that the two of them performed the song live by themselves was on May 31, 1989, on the last day of their ''On Tour'' tour in Yoyogi Park. is the second album released by the Japanese band The Blue Hearts. Along with Dug Out, it is one of only two studio albums consisting of a cover actually showing members of the band. Album history About half of the songs on this album were originally written while the band was an amateur independent band. The new songs were produced by Masahide Sakuma (佐久間 正英 ''Sakuma Masahide''). Other changes include Masatoshi Mashima singing main vocals for some songs, Hiroto Kōmoto playing a blues harp, and the addition of a keyboard. The three songs that were written specifically for this album are "Tōku Made", "Hoshi o Kudasai", and "Eiyū ni Akogarete". Lyrics and music were written by Hiroto Kōmoto, the band's lead vocalist, and was arranged by The Blue Hearts. The single is 9m17s in length. The B-side of the single is , a blues rock song written and sung by Masatoshi Mashima, the band's guitarist. Original recording The falsetto at the beginning of the song was done by Junnosuke Kawaguchi, the band's bassist. Though he generally speaks with a low voice, he sings in falsetto for a number of songs.
