Gunderson High School
Henry T. Gunderson High School is a high school situated in the Blossom Valley area of San Jose, California, which first opened in the fall of 1976. It drew the majority of its initial 10th - 12th grade student body from adjacent neighborhoods that were previously within the Pioneer and Leland high school boundaries. The school is part of the San Jose Unified School District and was given the maximum six-year accreditation in 2004, noting the performance of staff and faculty. Communications Hill
Communications Hill is a neighborhood located in the San Juan Bautista Hills of San Jose, California. History Before the Spanish entrada, the Tamyen people mined the area for chert, which was typically used for debitage and arrow points. On November 29, 1777, Juan Bautista de Anza selected the area to become the southernmost region in the first land tract of the San Jose pueblo (the first pueblo-town in California not associated with a mission or a military post). Although similarly named, the San Juan Bautista Hills were not part of the neighboring Rancho San Juan Bautista Mexican land grant. Located in the northern area of Communications Hill, Oak Hill Memorial Park, the oldest secular cemetery operating in California, performed its first recorded burial in 1847. Edenvale, San Jose
Edenvale is a neighborhood of San Jose, California, in South San Jose. History Edenvale was once a town, named with reference to the Garden of Eden, because of the beauty and fertility of the place. One of the oldest buildings in the area is Hayes Mansion. The Union Pacific Railroad and historic Monterey Road runs through the area, which is also known as El Camino Real. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. It is a type of gazetteer. It was developed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the United States Board on Geographic Names (BGN) to promote the standardization of feature names. Data were collected in two phases. Although a third phase was considered, which would have handled name changes where local usages differed from maps, it was never begun.
