A flower, sometimes known as a bloom or blossom, is the reproductive structure found in flowering plants (plants of the division Angiospermae). The biological function of a flower is to facilitate reproduction, usually by providing a mechanism for the union of sperm with eggs. Flowers may facilitate outcrossing (fusion of sperm and eggs from different individuals in a population) resulting from cross-pollination or allow selfing (fusion of sperm and egg from the same flower) when self-pollination occurs. There are two types of pollination: self-pollination and cross-pollination. Self-pollination occurs when the pollen from the anther is deposited on the stigma of the same flower, or another flower on the same plant. Blooming is an unincorporated community in Washington County, Oregon, United States near the Tualatin River, about two miles south of Cornelius. Its elevation is 190 feet (58 m). There are several plant nurseries in the area. The Blooming area was originally known as "the German Settlement" for a group of German immigrants who had settled there. Rev. Bloom is a town in Richland County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 487 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated communities of Bloom City and West Lima are located within the Town of Bloom. The unincorporated community of Ash Ridge is also located partially in the town. Bloom, Kansas
Bloom is an unincorporated community in Ford County, Kansas, United States. Its post office closed in 1992. At a 2018 estimate, the community had a population of 94. History Bloom was established by Thomas J. Vanderslice and Samuel O. Albright in 1887 or 1888. Vanderslice named it Bloom after his hometown of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. The small town sprang to life when the Rock Island Railroad pushed west. The town's original train depot can still be found in Bloom. Bloom's population reached a few hundred in the 1930s but gradually declined since and is now less than 50. The Bloom High School Badgers closed in the 1964 when the town's school district merged with that of Minneola, Kansas.
