Blood Theatre
''Blood Theatre'' (also known as ''Movie House Massacre'') is a 1984 American independent slasher-horror comedy film directed by Rick Sloane and starring Mary Woronov, Johnathon Blakely, Jenny Cunningham, and Joanna Foxx. The film includes many bizarre movie theater related deaths, such as being fried inside a popcorn machine, stabbed in the ticket booth, electrocuted by a film projector, decapitated by a projection booth partition, stabbed while a movie is playing on screen, smoke inhalation from burning film and a telephone receiver which breaks apart while a dying girl screams hysterically into it. The majority of the movie was shot at the historic Beverly Warner Theater in Beverly Hills, which was also a location in the film '' Xanadu''. It was later demolished and the site became a bank building. Rick Sloane
Rick Sloane (born August 22, 1961) is an American cult filmmaker. He is credited as writer, director, producer, Film editor and cinematographer of much of his own work. He directed the B-movie film ''Hobgoblins,'' which was featured on an episode of '' Mystery Science Theater 3000''. Early life Rick attended Hollywood High School in Hollywood, California. At the age of 18, Sloane was inspired by the ultra-low-budget film ''Hollywood Boulevard''. This film was also the directorial debut for ''Gremlins'' director Joe Dante, another of Sloane's inspirations. Mary Woronov, one of the stars of "Hollywood Boulevard," agreed to take the lead in Sloane's first feature, '' Blood Theater'', made when he was 21 years old. Sloane also produced fake trailers for non-existent Grindhouse style films such as ''Chainsaw Chicks'', ''Amputee Hookers'', ''Nightmare of the Lost Whores'' and ''Clown Whores of Hollywood''. Slasher Film
A slasher film is a genre of horror films involving a killer stalking and murdering a group of people, usually by use of bladed or sharp tools like knife, chainsaw, scalpel, etc. Although the term "slasher" may occasionally be used informally as a generic term for any horror film involving murder, film analysts cite an established set of characteristics which set slasher films apart from other horror subgenres, such as monster movies, splatter films, supernatural and psychological horror films. An exploitation film is a film that tries to succeed financially by exploiting current trends, niche genres, or lurid content. Exploitation films are generally low-quality "B movies", though some set trends, attract critical attention, become historically important, and even gain a cult following.
