''Blood Money Part 1'' is the sixth studio album by American nu metal band Dope. The album was released on October 28, 2016 by eOne Music, seven years after ''No Regrets'', making it the longest gap between studio albums. The album charted at number 27 on the ''Billboard'' 200, Dope's highest-charting position in the US, and stayed on the chart for two weeks. The songs "Selfish", "Blood Money" and "Hold On" were given music videos in respective orders. A prequel album entitled ''Blood Money Part Zer0'' was released in 2023. Dope is an American nu metal band from New York City, formed in 1997. The band has released six full-length studio albums with their most recent studio album, '' Blood Money Part 1'', being released in 2016. The lineup currently consists of founding member and lead singer Edsel Dope, guitarist Virus, bassist Acey Slade and drummer Daniel Fox. History Early days (1997–1998) The band was founded in 1997 by songwriter and lead vocalist Edsel Dope. As a child, Edsel and his brother Simon Dope were separated when their parents divorced. When the two were adults, they reunited and Simon joined Edsel's band, playing keyboards, samples and percussion. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Alternative Metal
Alternative metal (also known as alt-metal) is a genre of heavy metal music that combines heavy metal with influences from alternative rock and other genres not normally associated with metal. Brian Ebejer (born March 21, 1974), known professionally as Edsel Dope, is an American musician who is the lead singer, rhythm guitarist and main songwriter for nu metal/industrial metal band Dope. ''No Regrets'' is the fifth studio album by American nu metal band Dope. The album was released on March 10, 2009. The album debuted at number 88 with 6,200 copies sold in its first week, making it the second highest-charted album in the band's history, even though '' American Apathy'' sold nearly 3,000 more copies during its first week of release. It remained Dope's highest charting album until '' Blood Money Part 1'' peaked at number 27 in 2016. "Violet" is a song by American alternative rock band Hole, written by vocalist and guitarist Courtney Love and guitarist Eric Erlandson. The song was written in mid-1991, and was performed live between 1991 and 1992 during Hole's earlier tours, eventually appearing as the opening track on the band's second studio album ''Live Through This'' (1994).
