''Blood'' is a 2001 album by the Microphones. It was handmade, and limited to 300 original copies. Included on the album were recordings and alternate versions of songs later found on '' The Glow Pt. 2'', in addition to sound collages, field recordings and other miscellany. Also included was a cover of Björk's "All Is Full of Love". Track three is significant because of the name it is credited to "the Thunderclouds." The Microphones
The Microphones are an American indie folk, indie rock, and experimental project from Olympia, Washington. The project was founded in 1996 and ended in 2003, with a short reunion following in 2007 and revivals in 2019 and 2020. Across every iteration of the Microphones, it has been fronted by Phil Elverum. Elverum is the principal songwriter and producer behind the band's albums, but he has also collaborated with other local musicians on his other recordings and tours. Many of Elverum's recordings from the project's initial period were released by the label K Records. Since 2003, Elverum has recorded and performed primarily under the name Mount Eerie. He played a one-off concert in Anacortes, WA under the name the Microphones in June 2019 and announced the release of a new Microphones album, '' Microphones in 2020'', in August 2020. ''It Was Hot, We Stayed in the Water'', sometimes shortened to ''It Was Hot'', is the second studio album by American indie folk and indie rock band the Microphones. It was released by K Records on September 26, 2000. After Phil Elverum—the frontman, principal songwriter, and producer of the Microphones's albums—had gained a small following with 1999's '' Don't Wake Me Up'', he recorded ''It Was Hot'' in Dub Narcotic Studio in Olympia, Washington, between September 24, 1999, and March 6, 2000. The album was recorded on analogue tape; Elverum embraced the medium's technical imperfections. The album was described as indie rock, lo-fi, and indie pop and was inspired by Elverum's visits to the ocean. As a whole, the album centers on the theme of water, while its lyricism is heavily themed on nature. "All Is Full of Love" is a song by Icelandic musician Björk from her third studio album, ''Homogenic'' (1997). The lyrics were inspired by love in spring and Ragnarök of Norse mythology. Björk's original version is a trip hop ballad with Soul music, soul influences, harp, strings, and electronic beats; the version on ''Homogenic'' is a minimalist remix by Howie B, emphasising Björk's vocals. A remix by the German Intelligent dance music, IDM duo Funkstörung was released as a single in 1998. In 1999, "All Is Full of Love" was released as a single with a music video directed by Chris Cunningham. The Blow is an American electro pop band, comprising Khaela Maricich and Melissa Dyne. Maricich and Dyne write, compose, produce and perform all the music. It was formed as a solo project by Maricich in 2002, and she was joined by Jona Bechtolt, from Yacht, from 2004 to 2007. Melissa Dyne became part of the project in 2007. The live shows often incorporate monologues and other performance elements. Melissa Dyne began collaborating with Maricich on the live Blow shows starting in 2007, gradually incorporating her background in installation, sound, and conceptual art into the live show. ''Song Exploder'' is a music podcast created by Hrishikesh Hirway, who hosted it from its 2014 inception until late 2018 and again from December 2019 onwards. Yo-Yo-a-Go-Go
Yoyo A Go Go, usually abbreviated to Yoyo and often typeset in various ways, was an independent music festival in Olympia, Washington, first held in 1994 and followed by successor festivals in 1997, 1999, and 2001. Five- and six-day concert marathons featured dozens of punk and indie rock acts stacked back to back, as well as a variety of associated entertainment and small-scale local retail. The concerts took place at the historic Capitol Theater and showcased performers from the local Olympia music scene, while also including national and international artists. Background The first Yoyo enterprise was a recording studio built inside Olympia's Capitol Theater by audio engineer Pat Maley.
