Blondie's Blessed Event
''Blondie's Blessed Event'' is a 1942 American comedy film directed by Frank R. Strayer and starring Penny Singleton, Arthur Lake, and Larry Simms. It is the 11th of the Blondie films. It was the first to feature the character of Cookie. Plot Blondie gives birth to a baby daughter, Cookie, at the hospital. Dagwood is clumsy at doing housework in her absence. He is then sent to Chicago to attend an architects convention, where he meets an eccentric but impoverished hotel-room neighbor. The man claims to be a playwright and mooches Dagwood's meal while writing a speech, which Dagwood then delivers at the convention. Unfortunately, the speech urges homeowners to design their own homes rather than hire architects. The man follows Dagwood home and takes over the running of their household, including hiring a maid, and browbeating Mr. Dithers into giving Dagwood a raise. Blondie finally demands that he leave. Daisy (dog Actor)
Daisy (originally named Spooks) was a canine actor who appeared in more than 50 Hollywood films during the 1930s and 1940s. He was especially well-known for appearing in the Blondie franchise. Biography Daisy—a cocker spaniel–poodle-terrier mix—was originally named Spooks because his owners noted his timidness as a pup. Born around 1937, he was owned by dog trainer Rennie Renfro, who bought him for $3. He also learned tricks from legendary trainer Rudd Weatherwax. Reportedly, Renfro and his pup made $1,000 a week, and Renfro used the money to buy them a house in Toluca Lake, California. He was also noted to have had a five-year feud with actress Rita Hayworth. His last known film appearance came in 1954. Daisy and his "pups" had their own dog food brand that they made public appearances to promote. Mary Wickes
Mary Wickes (born Mary Isabella Wickenhauser; June 13, 1910 – October 22, 1995) was an American actress. She often played supporting roles as prim, professional women, secretaries, nurses, nuns, therapists, teachers and housekeepers, who made sarcastic quips when the leading characters fell short of her high standards. Early life Wickes was born to Frank Wickenhauser and his wife Mary Isabella (née Shannon) in St. Louis, Missouri of German, Scottish, and Irish extraction, and raised Protestant. Her parents were theater buffs, and took her to plays from the time that she could stay awake through a matinee. An excellent student, she skipped two grades and graduated at 16 from Beaumont High School. Hans Georg Conried Jr. (April 15, 1917 – January 5, 1982) was an American actor and comedian. He was known for providing the voices of George Darling and Captain Hook in Walt Disney's ''Peter Pan'' (1953), Snidely Whiplash in Jay Ward's ''Dudley Do-Right'' cartoons, Professor Waldo P. Jonathan Hale (born Jonathan Hatley; March 21, 1891 – February 28, 1966) was a Canadian-born film and television actor. Life and career Hale was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Before his acting career, Hale worked in the Diplomatic Corps. Hale is most well known as Dagwood Bumstead's boss, Julius Caesar Dithers, in the '' Blondie'' film series in the 1940s. Rotten Tomatoes is an American review-aggregation website for film and television. The company was launched in August 1998 by three undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley: Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang. Although the name "Rotten Tomatoes" connects to the practice of audiences throwing rotten tomatoes in disapproval of a poor stage performance, the original inspiration comes from a scene featuring tomatoes in the Canadian film ''Léolo'' (1992). Connie Lee
Connie Lee (born 1918) was an American screenwriter and songwriter known for her work on the Blondie films, as well as a number of B-Westerns (one of few women working in the genre at the time). Biography Lee came out of the Tin Pan Alley school of songwriting, and was given a contract by Ambassador Pictures to write songs for a few of its films. By the time she was 19, she began writing screenplays; her first feature, ''Swing It, Professor'', was released in 1937. She often collaborated on scripts with Karen DeWolf: As a duo, the two penned ''Nine Girls'' and many of the Blondie titles. Lee married screenwriter Seymour Bennett (born Seymour Berkowitz) at some point in the early 1950s; the pair collaborated on the story for 1953's ''The Last Posse''. Lee's and Bennett's careers came to an end by the early 1950s when they were placed on the Hollywood blacklist for alleged Communist ties.
