Ryszard Bugajski
Ryszard Bugajski (27 April 1943 – 7 June 2019) was a Polish film director and screenwriter. He directed 23 films and television shows since 1972. His 1982 film ''Interrogation'' starring Krystyna Janda and Adam Ferency, described as "the most anti-Communist film in the history of Polish People's Republic" was entered into the 1990 Cannes Film Festival after being suppressed by the Polish communist authorities for several years. Life and career He was born on 27 April 1943 in German-occupied Poland. His father was Edward Bugajski, a member of the pre-war Polish Socialist Party (PPS). He studied philosophy at the University of Warsaw and directing at the National Film School in Łódź, which he graduated from in 1973. The 41st annual Toronto International Film Festival was held from 8 to 18 September 2016. The first announcement of films to be screened at the festival took place on 26 July. Almost 400 films were shown. Awards The festival's final awards were announced on 18 September. Jury members Platform Jury The jury for the Platform section (in its second year) comprised Brian de Palma (American director), Mahamat-Saleh Haroun (Chadian director), and Zhang Ziyi (Chinese actress). The Platform section (named for Jia Zhangke's film ''Platform'') consists of "12 films of high artistic merit that demonstrate a strong directorial vision". Janusz Gajos
Janusz Gajos (; born 23 September 1939) is a Polish film, television and theatre actor as well as pedagogue and photographer. Professor of Theatre Arts and an Honorary Doctor of the National Film School in Łódź, he is considered one of the greatest Polish actors. Life and career He was born in Dąbrowa Górnicza. At the age of 11, he moved to Będzin where in 1957, he graduated from the High School No 3. In 1965 he graduated from the National Film School in Łódź as one of its best students despite having been rejected during entrance exams three times. He debuted while he was still in film school in children's film ''Panienka z okienka'' directed by Maria Kaniewska in 1964. Shortly afterwards he was cast in a role of Janek Kos in a widely popular TV World War II series ''Czterej pancerni i pies'' (''Four Tank Men and a Dog'').
