	Blestemul Pământului, Blestemul Iubirii ''Blestemul pământului, blestemul iubirii'' (''The curse of the land, the curse of love'') is a 1981 Romanian drama film directed by Mircea Mureșan. The film is an adaptation of Liviu Rebreanu's 1920 social novel ', starring Șerban Ionescu as the titular character, a poor Transylvanian peasant. The movie was mostly shot in the village of Fântânele, near Sibiu, from 5 April 1978 to 9 February 1979. The release was delayed due to concerns raised by the communist censors. The premiere took place on 14 April 1980, at the Patria Cinema in Bucharest; the film was watched by 3,469,709 spectators in Romanian cinemas. 	Mircea Mureșan Mircea Mureșan (11 November 1928 – 24 April 2020) was a Romanian film director. He directed 22 films between 1961 and 2004. Mureșan won the prize for Best First Work at the 1966 Cannes Film Festival for the film '' Răscoala''. Born in Sibiu, he attended from 1939 to 1947 the Gheorghe Lazăr High School in his native city. He then played at the State Theatre of Sibiu for four years, after which he went to Bucharest to pursue his studies, graduating from the Institute of Film I.L. Caragiale in 1955. His film career, which began with film adaptations, gradually reoriented towards comedy, with rare trips into documentaries. 	Florin Zamfirescu Florin Zamfirescu (; born 12 April 1949) is a Romanian theatre and film actor and director, and university professor. Zamfirescu was born in Călimănești, Vâlcea County; his grandfather, Gheorghe Zamfirescu, was mayor of the town. He graduated from the Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest in 1971. From 1971 to 1973, he was an actor in the Municipal Theatre of Târgu Mureș, and subsequently moved to the Odeon Theatre in Bucharest. From 1974 to 1978 he was an instructor Caragiale National University; in 1996 he became a professor, and from 2000 to 2008 he served as rector of the university. 	Luminița Gheorghiu Luminița Gheorghiu (; 1 September 1949 – 4 July 2021) was a Romanian film actress, and artistic performer in East Central Europe. She achieved international recognition for her roles in '' The Death of Mr. Lazarescu'' (2006) and '' Child's Pose'' (2013). Gheorghiu's roles were mostly in Romanian and French, including that in ''Code Unknown'' with Juliette Binoche. Gheorghiu was a 1972 graduate of the Institute of Theatrical and Cinematographic Arts in Bucharest, where she studied under professor Ion Cojar.
