''Bless a Brand New Angel'' is the sixth studio album from American singer Benny Mardones, released by Crave Records, Crave in 1998. Background Both ''Bless a Brand New Angel'' and its title track (which was released as a single) failed to generate commercial success. As "Bless a Brand New Angel" began generating airplay in the United States, Crave was shut down in July 1998. On June 19, 1998, the ''Gavin Report'' listed "Bless a Brand New Angel" under adult contemporary as "chartbound", with the single having generated 46 reports and 671 spins. In 1999, ''Bless a Brand New Angel'' was reissued as ''Angel'' by Fuel 2000. The title track achieved further airplay, with the ''Gavin Report'' reporting 87 spins and placing the song at No. 35 on their Adult Contemporary chart. Critical reception Tomas Mureika of AllMusic described ''Bless a Brand New Angel'' as "standard fare" from Mardones, but praised his vocals as "strong". Les Reed (songwriter)
Leslie David Reed (24 July 1935 – 15 April 2019) was an English songwriter, arranger, musician and light-orchestra leader. His major songwriting partners were Gordon Mills, Barry Mason, and Geoff Stephens, although he wrote songs with many others such as Roger Greenaway, Roger Cook, Peter Callander, and Johnny Worth. Reed co-wrote around sixty charting songs, and is best known for "It's Not Unusual", "Delilah", "The Last Waltz" and " Marching On Together". His songs gained a number of gold discs and Ivor Novello Awards. Allmusic noted that "In the mid-1960s, it was unusual for a British singles chart not to list a Les Reed song". John Barry Mason (12 July 1935 – 16 April 2021) was an English singer and songwriter. A leading songwriter of the 1960s, he wrote the bulk of his most successful songs in partnership with Les Reed. Mason gained many gold and platinum awards for his work including five Ivor Novello Awards, the most recent of them in 1998.
