Blast Radio
Blast Radio (formerly known as Tube Radio) is the student radio station and Students' Union Club for University of West London. They broadcast online from studios based on campus. And on an RSL across the local area for four weeks in May. The station is a member of UK Student Radio Association. History Originally launched in 1994 as Tube Radio it was later rebranded to its current name in 2007, bringing it in line with sister station Blast 1386AM based at the Reading campus, which was then part of Thames Valley University. At the time it was the first University in the United Kingdom to feature two student radio stations within the same institution. The Student Radio Association (SRA) is a representative body which supports and acts on behalf of the UK student radio community, comprising radio stations that are associated with or linked to a place of education. It is a not-for-profit organisation, which exists to encourage and facilitate communication between student stations. It was dissolved by Companies House in May 2018, but was reincorporated on 30 August 2019 as the Student Radio Association Ltd Ltd. History The SRA was formed following the liquidation of the National Association of Student Broadcasting (NASB), which was formed as a limited company on 5 August 1988. NASB, a Private company limited by guarantee, was dissolved in January 2002, although had collapsed as a business in 1991. That year saw the creation of the SRA as a community. Blast 1386AM
Blast1386 is the student radio station for Reading College. They previously broadcast locally from their Kings Road Campus over 1386AM and online from Room A59. The station first started broadcasting in April 2002. Since February 2020 the 1386 AM transmitter has been off the air and by June 2020 the web stream had also ceased. The station currently appears to be defunct. in 2002 Reading College started Blast 1386. When it started Blast 1386 took a sustaining station overnight but as the station grew and had more content there was no need for this and Blast 1386 began broadcasting 24 hours a day 7 days a week from their studios in the heart of Reading College. Ealing Studios
Ealing Studios is a television and film production company and facilities provider at Ealing Green in West London. Will Barker bought the White Lodge on Ealing Green in 1902 as a base for film making, and films have been made on the site ever since. It is the oldest continuously working studio facility for film production in the world, and the current stages were opened for the use of sound in 1931.
