Tia Blassingame
Tia Blassingame (born 1971, New Haven, CT), assistant professor of art at Scripps College, is an American book artist and publisher. Biography Blassingame holds a B.A. in Architecture from Princeton University, a M.A. in Book Arts and printmaking from the Corcoran College of Art & Design, and an M.F.A. in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design. She was Artist-in-Residence at the International Print Center (2019), Yaddo (2011), MacDowell (2010) and the Santa Fe Art Institute (2010). Blassingame is Assistant Professor of Art and Director of Scripps College Press at Scripps College, Claremont, CA. Her work has been collected by private and public collections, including the Library of Congress, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, The Tate in Britain, the National Museum of Women in the Arts and Yale University. Jerel Blassingame
Jerel Romaine Blassingame (born September 12, 1981) is an American professional basketball player for AIK Basket of the Swedish second-tier Superettan. He is in height and plays at the point guard position. Amateur career Blassingame played at Redirection High School in Brooklyn, New York, before attending Los Angeles City College, where he helped the team win a California state championship in 2002–03. He was named MVP of the state tournament, and was an All-Southcoast Conference selection that year. He later transferred to UNLV, where he averaged 11.2 ppg and 6.6 assists in his junior season (2003–04). In his senior year, he averaged 8.9 ppg and 5.5 apg. Professional career Before beginning his career in Finland, Blassingame played with Maccabi Rishon LeZion in the Israeli League. John Wesley Blassingame
John Wesley Blassingame (March 23, 1940 – February 13, 2000) was an American historian and pioneer in the study of slavery in the United States. He was the former chairman of the African-American studies program at Yale University. Blassingame was born on March 23, 1940, in Covington, Georgia, to Grady and Odessa Blassingame. He received a bachelor's degree at Fort Valley State College (1960), a master's degree at Howard University (1961), and a master's degree (1968) and a doctorate (1971) at Yale University. His doctoral dissertation, written under the supervision of C. Vann Woodward, was titled ''A Social and Economic Study of the Negro in New Orleans, 1860–1880''. Blassingame joined the faculty at Yale University in 1970 and became a history professor in 1974. He remained at Yale University as a professor of history, African-American studies, and American studies for 29 years. William Blassingame
William Blassingame (born January 13, 1836) was an American politician serving in the Texas legislature and as a delegate to the Texas Constitutional Convention of 1875. He was born to William Blassingame and Mary Earl Prince. He is not to be confused with a William Blassingame in the 1830s who was a sheriff in Alabama and South Carolina. At age 25, he enlisted as a private in the Confederate Army in 1861 and was an assistant surgeon in General Benjamin McCulloch's Missouri campaign. After the war, he moved to Texas from Versailles, Missouri and where he settled in Whitesboro, Texas with his wife, where he started his medical practice and occasionally farmed. In February 1876, he ran for Senate as a Democrat against the Republican Dr. Alexander Marshall, who had previously served a term in the Sixteenth Legislature, and Blassingame won by 1,000 votes more. Lurton Blassingame
Lurton Blassingame (February 10, 1904 – April 1988) was an American literary agent. He was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas and went to Columbia University where he studied writing. His Master's thesis was based on the history of pulp fiction. His first job was as a writer in Hollywood. From that job he moved on to found the American Library Foundation with William Allen in 1937. He was the literary agent for Frank Herbert, Robert A. Heinlein, John Barth, William F. Nolan, and Rosemary Taylor. His public relations firm named Houston Branch Associates was sold to Eleanor Wood's Spectrum Literary Agency in 1978. In 1951, author Robert A.
