Henry Bergman (February 23, 1868 – October 22, 1946) was an American actor of stage and film, known for his long association with Charlie Chaplin. Biography Born in San Francisco, California, Bergman acted in live theatre, appearing in ''Henrietta'' in 1888 at the Hollis Street Theatre in Boston and in the touring production of '' The Senator'' in 1892 and 1893. He made his Broadway debut in 1899 appearing with Anna Held in ''Papa's Wife'', the musical hit of the year. He made his first film appearance with the L-KO Kompany in 1914 at the age of forty-six. ''Stopping the Show'' is a 1932 Fleischer Studios animated short, directed by Dave Fleischer. While it is not the first appearance of Betty Boop, it is the first short to be credited as "A Betty Boop Cartoon." Synopsis Betty Boop appears on stage in a vaudeville theater. Her act consists of imitations of real-life singers, including Helen Kane, Fanny Brice and Maurice Chevalier. The cartoon audience enthusiastically cheers and applauds. Notes and comments * When the short was originally released, it contained a scene showing Betty singing Helen Kane's song " That's My Weakness Now." Howard Brothers
Willie Howard (April 13, 1883 – January 14, 1949) and Eugene Howard (July 7, 1880 – August 1, 1965), billed as the Howard Brothers, were Silesian-born American vaudeville performers of the first half of the 20th century. They were two of the earliest openly Jewish performers on the American stage. After performing in amateur night competitions, the brothers began separate professional theatre careers. Soon they were appearing together in burlesque and vaudeville, where, over the course of a decade, they established their reputation. The Palace Theatre is a Broadway theater at 1564 Broadway, facing Times Square, in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City.
