Blake Works I
''Blake Works I'' is a ballet choreographed by William Forsythe to seven songs from James Blake's album '' The Colour in Anything''. The ballet was made for the Paris Opera Ballet, Forsythe's first work for the company since 1999, and premiered on 4 July 2016, at Palais Garnier. Background and production Forsythe choreographed his first ballet for the Paris Opera Ballet in 1983, a ballet titled ''France Dance''. Four years later, he made one of his most notable works, '' In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated'', for the company. His last two works for the company before ''Blake Works I '' were made in 1999. William Forsythe (choreographer)
William Forsythe (born December 30, 1949) is an American dancer and choreographer resident in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He is known for his work with the Ballet Frankfurt (1984–2004) and The Forsythe Company (2005–2015). Recognized for the integration of ballet and visual arts, which displayed both abstraction and forceful theatricality, his vision of choreography as an organizational practice has inspired him to produce numerous installations, films, and web-based knowledge creation, incorporating the spoken word and experimental music. Hugo Marchand
Hugo Marchand (born ) is a French ballet dancer. He joined the Paris Opera Ballet in 2011 and was named '' étoile'' in 2017, at age 23. Early life Marchand was born in Nantes. He trained at Nantes Conservatory, before leaving home to study at the Paris Opera Ballet School for four years. He stated that he "didn't like the atmosphere or the rigid structure very much". Ludmila Pagliero (born 15 October 1983) is an Argentinian ballet dancer. Since 2003, she dances with the Paris Opera Ballet, where she is a '' danseuse étoile'' (the highest rank of the Paris Opera Ballet) since 2012. Early life Pagliero was born in Buenos Aires, in the Palermo district, to an electrician and a masseuse. At the age of 8, she started classical dance lessons, but it was a disappointment. Léonore Baulac
Léonore Baulac (born 10 May 1990) is a French ballet dancer. She is an '' étoile'' at the Paris Opera Ballet. Early life Baulac was born in Paris to a Norwegian-born mother. When Baulac was ten, she did not participate in the entrance exam to the Paris Opera Ballet School. She only decided to pursue a career in ballet a year later, but could not enter the school at that time as she was too old. Therefore, she trained with a private teacher.
