Blake Filippi
Blake Anthony Filippi (born September 10, 1980) is an American politician serving as a member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives and the House Minority Leader. Filippi is from the 36th district, which includes all of Block Island and Charlestown and portions of Westerly and South Kingstown. Blake Filippi received his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law, and is currently a member of the Republican Party. He has served since he was first elected in 2014, defeating incumbent Democratic Representative Donna M. Walsh. He was unanimously elected as Minority Leader of Rhode Island House of Representatives by the Republican Caucus in 2018, and previously, as Whip in 2016. In February 2020, he spoke in favor of the presidential campaign of Tulsi Gabbard. Rhode Island House Of Representatives
The Rhode Island House of Representatives is the lower house of the Rhode Island General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Rhode Island, the upper house being the Rhode Island Senate. It is composed of 75 members, elected to two year terms from 75 districts of equal population. The Rhode Island General Assembly does not have term limits. On January 6, 2021, following the defeat of then-U.S. President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election, a mob of his supporters attacked the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.
