Blaise Andries
Blaise Andries (born July 21, 1998) is an American football guard who is a free agent. He played college football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Early life and high school career Andries was born on July 21, 1998, in Marshall, Minnesota, and attended Marshall Senior High School. Schmitz committed to play college football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, under coach P. J. Fleck. College career Andries played college football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers for four years, from 2017 to 2021, being redshirted in his first season, and he started in all 46 games. Andries started at all offensive line positions except center, playing five games at left tackle, nine at right tackle, eleven at left guard, and 21 at right guard. He was a redshirt senior and announced his departure on December 19, 2021. Guard (gridiron Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming defensive line, linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. Center or Centre (C) is a position in gridiron football. The center is the innermost Lineman (American football), lineman of the offensive line on a football team's Offense (sports), offense. The 2022 NFL Draft was the 87th edition of the National Football League's annual draft and was held from April 28–30, 2022, at the Caesars Forum on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. The first round was held on Thursday, April 28, and was followed by the second and third rounds on Friday, April 29. The draft concluded with rounds 4–7 on Saturday, April 30. It was the first draft to be held in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. The first five selections were defensive players, the second-most taken at the start of a draft after the six in 1991. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university. However, in a redshirt year, student athletes may attend classes at the college or university, practice with an athletic team, and "suit up" (wear a team uniform) for play – but they may compete in only a limited number of games (see " Use of status" section).
