Château De Blain
The Château de Blain or Château de la Groulais, is a mediaeval castle constructed in the 13th century and heavily remodelled in the 16th, located in the ''commune'' of Blain in the Loire-Atlantique ''département'' of France. It formed part of the frontier defences of Brittany along with the towns and castles of Vitré, Fougères, Châteaubriant, Ancenis and Clisson. Geography The castle stands on the side of the Nantes-Brest canal. It has 12 towers and covers an area of 4 hectares. History The first castle was constructed on the orders of Alan IV, Duke of Brittany, around 1108. The fortress passed by marriage to the Clisson family in 1225. Following Olivier I of Clisson's revolt against the Duke, the castle was razed in 1260. Olivier I's son, Olivier II obtained permission from the Duke to rebuild the castle. Saint-Émilien-de-Blain
Saint-Émilien-de-Blain is a village and parish in France, part of the commune of Blain, Loire-Atlantique. The parish and village are named after Saint Émilien, Bishop of Nantes, who died when trying to save the city from the Arabs during their invasion of 725. The church at Saint-Émilien was built in 1844–54 on the central square of the village, and the bell tower added in 1868. The spire was never added due to lack of funds. The church has a typical cross-shaped layout, with a large nave and two transept arms. Royal Wootton Bassett
Royal Wootton Bassett , formerly Wootton Bassett, is a market town and civil parish in Wiltshire, England, with a population of 11,043 in 2001, increasing to 11,385 in 2011. Situated in the north of the county, it lies to the west of the major town of Swindon and northeast of Calne. From 1447 until 1832 Wootton Bassett was a parliamentary borough which elected two Members of Parliament (MPs) to the House of Commons. In 1832 it was deemed a rotten borough and abolished by the Great Reform Act. The town was granted royal patronage in March 2011 by Elizabeth II in recognition of its role in the early-21st-century military funeral repatriations, which passed through the town.
