Vera Blagojević
Vera Blagojević ( sr, Вера Благојевић, 16 May 1920 – 18 March 1942) was a Yugoslav medical student and Communist political activist. During World War II, she was captured by the Gestapo in 1942 and later killed. She was posthumously awarded the Order of the People's Hero in 1953. Early life Vera Blagojević was born on 16 May 1920 in Belgrade, Kingdom of Yugoslavia. She was the daughter of lawyer Jovan Blagojević ( sr, Јован Благојевић), who served in the Army during World War I, and housewife Ana Blagojević ( sr, Анa Благојевић). Her father was a Communist supporter. She grew up in Šabac. In 1937, Blagojević helped organise a student strike in protest of the attitudes of some teachers at the school. Dragiša Blagojević (born 1 January 1966) is a Montenegrin chess player who holds the title of Grandmaster (GM) (2004), six-times Montenegrin Chess Championship winner (2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009), Chess Olympiad individual gold medal winner (2008). Katarina Blagojević (née Jovanović; 31 October 1943 — 15 November 2021), also known as Katarina Blagojević-Jovanović ( sr-Cyrl, Катарина Благојевић-Јовановић) was a Serbian chess player who held the title of FIDE titles, Woman Grandmaster (WGM, 1986).
