William Seymour Blackstone
William Seymour Blackstone (1809–1881) was an English MP in the Parliament of the United Kingdom. He was the son of James Blackstone, barrister-at-law of the Middle Temple, and grandson of the legal writer William Blackstone (1723–1780). Elected Conservative MP for Wallingford, Oxfordshire, England in 1832, he served until 1852, when the constituency refused to re-adopt him. He defended the Corn Laws, and was one of the rebels who opposed Robert Peel over Free Trade in 1846, causing the fall of the government. Like his grandfather, he was staunchly anti-Roman Catholic. He lived at Castle Priory, Wallingford, built for his grandfather, but decided to build a still-grander house, Howbery Park, across the Thames in Crowmarsh Gifford. However, he fell into debt, largely because of the costs of building this new home, and spent time in the debtors' prison at Oxford. Papulankutja (also referred to as Blackstone) is a large Aboriginal community located in the Goldfields–Esperance region of Western Australia, within the Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku. History The community exists on the traditional lands of the Ngaanyatjarra people, many of whom were transported in the 1960s to Warburton mission. In the 1970s, Ngaanyatjarra people returned to the region from Warburton mission. Since this time the community has steadily grown in size and population. Native title The community is located within the determined Ngaanyatjarra Lands (Part A) (WAD6004/04) native title claim area, determined on 26 June 2005. Town planning Papulankutla Layout Plan No. 2 was endorsed in March 2013, with five amendments up to April 2018.

Blackstone is a suburb of Ipswich in the City of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. In the , Blackstone had a population of 1,024 people. History The district was originally called Bundamba Creek but this caused confusion with nearby Bundamba, so the postmistress Mrs Orr proposed the name Blackstone, believed to be a place in Ireland. The area is renowned for its mining history and in 1866 Welshman Lewis Thomas established one of the first mines in the area. Blackstone has a rich Welsh history with Lewis Thomas having populated the community with Welsh miners and their families, who in turn established their own Cambrian choir and church in 1886, a School of Arts in 1891, a Soccer club in 1890, and public school in 1887. The Blackstone Legal Fellowship is an American legal training and summer internship program for Christian law students, developed and facilitated by the Evangelical Christian legal group Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF). About 1,900 law students have participated in the program. Its main campus is in Scottsdale, Arizona.
