Black Reel Awards For Television
The Black Reel TV Awards (TV BRA) is an annual American awards ceremony presented by the Foundation for the Augmentation of African-Americans in Film (FAAAF) to recognize artistic and technical merit of African-Americans and the African diaspora in the television industry. The winners across different categories are voted on by the FAAAF's membership and awarded a statuette called the "Black Reel Award". The ceremony was spun-off from the Black Reel Awards through an announcement on June 5, 2017. The annual BRAs were first presented in February 16, 2000 to honor merit across both film and television. The first TV BRAs were held on August 5, 2017 as the Black Reel Awards for Television, before adopting its current name in 2021. The inaugural TV BRAs consisted of 25 categories and included categories moved over from the BRAs. Black Reel Awards Of 2022
The 22nd Annual Black Reel Awards ceremony, presented by the Foundation for the Augmentation of African-Americans in Film (FAAAF) and honoring the best 2021 in film, films of 2021, took place on February 28, 2022, and streamed on blackreelawards.com at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time Zone, PST / 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time Zone, EST. During the ceremony, FAAAF presented the Black Reel Awards in 24 categories. The film nominations were announced on December 16, 2021. Black Filmmakers Hall Of Fame
The Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame, Inc. (BFHFI), was founded in 1974, in Oakland, California. It supported and promoted black filmmaking, and preserved the contributions by African-American artists both before and behind the camera. It also sponsored advance screenings of films by and about people of African descent and hosted the Oscar Micheaux Awards Ceremony, held each February, from 1974 to 1993, in Oakland. The Hall started as the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame in 1974, as an all volunteer project of Oakland Museum of California’s Cultural and Ethnics Affairs Guild. It grew quickly, incorporating as BFHFI in 1978. It is unclear if the BFHFI still exists; in 2014, all its archives were given to the Black Film Center/Archive, within the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University Bloomington. The BET Awards is an American award show that was established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate black entertainers and other minorities in music, film, sports and philanthropy. The awards, which are presented annually, are broadcast live on BET. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by artists; some of the awards of more popular interest are presented in a televised ceremony.
