Black Ice (band)
Black Ice is an American no wave/deathrock band formed in 1999 Oakland, California, by members of The Phantom Limbs, Stevenson Sedjwick and Skot Brown. Additionally, Sedjwick has played in Factory Of Angst, Bloody Melinda and other bands; while Brown has been a member of Anal Kitties, Oliver Klossoff And The Applicators, and Holy Revolver Society. Initially, Black Ice concentrated on making music with acoustic instruments, samples, and found sounds that they tweaked and twisted through a myriad of studio effects. Their early music was primarily instrumental and was often used in art performances in and around the SF Bay Area at places like Cell Space in San Francisco and Mungasoland in Oakland. Deathrock
Death rock (or deathrock) is a rock music subgenre incorporating horror elements and gothic theatrics. The Phantom Limbs
The Phantom Limbs were a post-punk/deathrock band formed in Oakland, California, in 1999. The group combined the unusual keyboard-driven compositions of Stevenson Sedgwick with an aggressive, punk-influenced rhythm section and a very odd singer, Loto 'Hopeless' Ball, whose howled lyrics and unpredictable stage behavior quickly gained them an infamous reputation in the SF Bay Area. They were quickly approached by Sam Atakra of the fledgling Atakra records label, which released their first 3-song 7-inch, featuring their seminal "Hot Knives and Hornets." With critical acclaim for their live shows and 7-inch recordings, the group was approached by Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys and were signed to his seminal label, Alternative Tentacles, on the spot. Red Voice Choir is an American progressive dark rock band formed in Oakland, California, United States, in 2005. Members are: Miss Kel (vocals and keyboards), Adam Beck (vocals and guitar), Dawn Hillis (bass) and Kevin Brown (drums). Line-up The current line-up features Miss Kel (of Black Ice and the now defunct Sister Mary Shoelace), Adam Beck (of Death of a Party), Dawn Hillis (formerly of The Holy Kiss) and Kevin Brown (of Black Ice, and now defunct: The Freaks, Sister Mary Shoelace, and The Legendary Freemonious Wah), although the band originally began with Skot B.
