Bist (river)
The Bist (archaic german: Bießt, french: Bisten) is a river in France and in Germany, and a left tributary of the Saar. It is long, of which within France and on the French-German border. The Bist begins near the French village of Boucheporn, Lorraine and flows northeastward to Creutzwald. From there it follows the Franco-German border northward to Überherrn, then flows eastward to (a district of Wadgassen) and northward to join the Saar immediately north of the Autobahn 620 bridge in Wadgassen, Saarland. Wadgassen
Wadgassen is a municipality in the district of Saarlouis, in Saarland, Germany. It is situated on the river Saar, approx. 6 km southeast of Saarlouis, and 15 km west of Saarbrücken. Autobahn 620
is an autobahn in Germany, connecting Saarlouis with Saarbrücken. Together with the BAB8, it serves as part of the connection between Luxembourg and Germany. As the major part of the BAB 620 is alongside the river Saar, one section in Saarbrücken, the so-called "Stadtautobahn" is subject to flooding several times a year. As a joke, locals call it "Bundesschifffahrtsstrasse" (Federal water lane) and "Nebenfluss der Saar mit 13 Buchstaben" (tributary of the Saar with 13 letters) because of that. Creutzwald
Creutzwald (german: Kreuzwald) is a commune in the Moselle département in Grand Est in north-eastern France. With Germany, it manages the Warndt forest. History The town was formed in 1810, by the merging of the three villages of ''La Croix'', ''La Houve'', and ''Wilhelmsbronn''. It continued to be known as Creutzwald-la-Croix until 1961, when the name was simplified. Until that point, it had been redundant, as the German word ''Kreuz'', and French ''Croix'' both mean "cross". Like the other communes of the present-day Moselle department, Creutzwald was annexed to the German Empire from 1871 to 1918. During the Second World War, the commune was annexed by the Third Reich.
