Bishorjan
''Bishorjan'' () is a 2017 Bengali language, Bengali film written and directed by Kaushik Ganguly, produced by Opera Productions. It stars Abir Chatterjee, and Cinema of Bangladesh, Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan. The story revolves around a love story between a Bangladeshi Hindu widow and Indian Muslim businessman, who one day washes up on the Bangladesh side of the Ichamati River, Ichamati river. The film was officially selected at the 2017 Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival and was released theatrically on 14 April 2017. It was a critical and commercial success. Bishorjan received six Filmfare Awards East, Filmfare East Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Story, and Best Actress, as well as National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali, Best Feature Film in Bengali at the ''64th National Film Awards.'' Jaya Ahsan
Jaya Maswood (born 1 July), commonly known as Jaya Ahsan, is a Bangladeshi actress and producer. Starting her career as a model and, later, as a television actress, she currently works mostly in Bangladeshi and Indian Bengali films. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress five times for her performances in the films '' Guerrilla'' (2011), '' Chorabali'' (2012), '' Zero Degree'' (2015), '' Debi'' (2018) and '' Alatchakra'' (2021). Kaushik Ganguly (born 4 August 2012) is an Indian film director, screenwriter and actor in Bengali cinema. Multiple National Award winner Actor-Director, Kaushik Ganguly is known for making films that explore various aspects sexuality, like ''Ushnatar Janye'' (2003), which deals with a lesbian relationship, and ''Arekti Premer Golpo'' (2010), which examines transgender identity & '' Nagarkirtan'' (2017), an LGBTQ Movie. Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival (HBFF) is a Bengali film festival in the city of Hyderabad and is being organized annually since 2014. The venue of the festival is the Prasad Film Preview Labs, Hyderabad (adjacent to L V Prasad Eye Institute). The first edition of the film festival was held in the year 2014. It is the only curated Bengali film festival in India. The festival is organized by a Hyderabad-based registered Bengali group- Bengalis in Hyderabad (popularly known as BiH). The fourth edition of the HBFF was held from 30 June to 2 July 2017. The fourth edition of the festival screened eight Bengali movies, along with two Telugu movies. Kalika Prasad Bhattacharya (11 September 1970 – 7 March 2017) was an Indian folk singer and researcher. He was born and raised in Silchar, Assam. He went on to study comparative literature at Jadavpur University. His musical inspiration was his uncle Ananta Bhattacharya. In 1999, he co-founded the band Dohar with the intent to revive the folk music tradition of Northern and Eastern Bengal. He also contributed music to a number of movies. ''Bisarjan'' is a 2012 Bengali drama directed by Suman Mukhopadhyay. The play is based on Rabindranath Tagore's ''Bisarjan'' (1890). Plot Tagore's work was on how humans lost out their paradise trying to satisfy a god who wanted for animal sacrifice. The National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali is one of the National Film Awards presented annually by the Directorate of Film Festivals, the organisation set up by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India.
